Cal Poly SLO Class of 2028 Freshman Discussion Thread

:crossed_fingers::crossed_fingers::crossed_fingers:

For us, was more for the required business units since they had pre requisites so you had to take them in a certain order.

Would love to see examples of gpa/courses for those admitted to material engineering and manufacturing engineering. I tried searching without much luck.

Anyone got acceptance for General Engineering? Haven’t seen any yet in the user forms

Has anyone received a waitlist or a denial yet?

Does anyone know what time the first wave came out last Monday? I think I remember it being around 12pm but I could be mistaken.

Yes the Freshman admit wave came out around 12 pm PST. Last year, however the next wave with Portfolio admits and the waitlists came out around 6 PM PST.

No guarantee they do it the same, but for comparison last year the main WL round came out on Friday 3/24 and Sat 3/25 (so would be end of this week, if the same) and denials came Thursday 3/30 (so would not be until the 28th if release schedule is the same).

Not here - checked the portal earlier today and still shows “no determination” has been made.

Yeah, same for us. SMH at the way the CSUs handle their admissions in “waves”.

My sons friend was accepted on 3/24 last year ( not a major with portfolio) so there is still a chance though may be exception to the rule.

Here’s one.

I’ve really soured on Cal Poly for how shameful they’ve handled the admissions issue. If UCLA can get out nearly 200,000 decisions in a day, there’s no excuse for them taking this long to give a decision. What could possibly have changed in two weeks to have them still wondering what to do? I’m recommending the kid look elsewhere even if the decision is favorable at this point. This level of disorganization and/or ■■■■■■■■ of kids isn’t for me.

Totally agree. They are playing games. My son has now already been accepted to UCLA and
bunch of others so will release a wait list right away if that’s his situation but feel for students that are waiting here. I won’t have my younger two apply.

Maybe they are looking at how many people enroll immediately (in the 2 weeks) to make adjustments to the waitlist number or perhaps offer a few more acceptances.

If waiting for a decision has soured you this much, definitely encourage your kids to look at smaller and/or private schools. Big public schools are giant organizations and decisions with just about everything takes a long time. They have a ton of kids that deserve the time to consider each application. And on top of that, they get more than their share of entitled parents who think they know better, despite not having any education experience on their resumes. The UCs are just as frustrating, but the quality of the academics makes it all worth it. Usually it’s the parents who are more bothered by the waiting than the kids. Add it to the list of coping lessons they learn along the way.

Agree!

hello, are you looking for stats on someone who was accepted to Mat Engg? My daughter was but I don’t know her SLO GPA.
