My oldest is at SLO. Her coach said the dean of admissions hates decision day literally stresses and is sad bc he has to reject thousands of qualified applicants. The school knows they have so many great applicants. We were told this in 2019 when we were there on on official visits for her sport.
Many kids get into top UCs and not slo. SLO doesn’t have as many spots as other schools.
Your kids stats are amazing. Will be successful wherever they land if not at slo. It’s so hard when they have worked so hard and it doesn’t go as planned. There is still hope. Good luck.
I can’t seem to recall - have there been rejections and waitlists from cal poly at all yet? I know of admissions but don’t know about the others. Thank you!
Would it be wrong to think the waitlists and rejections should be posted no later than Friday evening? I assume nobody is posting decisions over the weekend and they would not be so cruel to post either waitlists or rejections actually on April 1?
Would it be possible that they are trying a new release strategy and waiting for the ivies/cal etc. to come out? Some kids may drop Cal Poly and that may release some last minute decisions for those still waiting? So maybe this long wait is a good thing? Seems a lot slower than the past…
one data point, Monday is a holiday for Cal Poly SLO, Cesar Chavez Day, just speculating, but I would assume Admissions would like to take this holiday as well…
Thank you for the information. For the social media sites that I lurk on, no waitlist or denials have been posted but again a small minority of students post on these sites anyways.
Yeah such a small subset posts on these forums. I saw one dad asking in the parent group and kid is entering as a Bio Major 2024. So those acceptances have gone out, even though many on here are waiting on Bio.
This thread validates me, even though we all anticipate the worse, we all get so hyper focused
My D24 is still awaiting a decision on her portfolio submission. We haven’t heard of any Art students accepted yet. But perhaps they have? CP was a top choice of hers, but she’s now been accepted into all of her other top schools. I think the wait on CP has given her time to reflect and get excited about the others. We shall see…
My neighbor who is a teacher at our NorCal high school (which is also a feeder to Cal Poly. Google feeder high schools to CP, there is a list of them) said this weekend how many kids got into to CP and that she had 4 seniors in her class who were waitlisted, not rejected.
