Im just accepting a rejection at this point as disappointing as that is
I’m curious - do you think this year is an unusual one for waitlist and rejection timing due to the fafsa disaster? As in - if student commitment dates are all pushed out - maybe SLO is not yet getting their commitments back from students in a timely manner. I mean… it doesn’t seem to be affecting other schools with their acceptances/rejections but this fafsa stuff is so frustrating in all aspects so just a thought.
That’s such a good reminder that these institutions were and are intended to serve, support and educate Californians, including providing opportunities to every Californian, and not just reward the most accomplished.
I believe for many students, the delay of receiving a financial package will keep them from committing to any school and this in turns affects the waitlists since they will not decline acceptances until they have the full financial picture to make an informed decision.
Do we have any idea how long FAFSA processing works? This is my first time through this process. My daughter says that FAFSA has been processed. I am told that it would now be sent to the schools and they would then present their “offers”? How long does it typically take from being processed to the school making its “offer”?
My D24 is also waiting to hear back on her portfolio submission. I think this waiting is particularly hard on these kids; they met the first hurdle, and the second part was pretty personal (at least for my kid, whose art is her passion).
This is the timeline from UC Riverside, but not sure if SLO or other colleges are following the same timeline.
Cal grant and the middleclass scholarship were extended to May 1.
My kid got an email from financial aid that scholarships would post by May 1st.
Email from Cal Poly?
Yes.
I totally agree. It’s one thing to send a transcript, but sending a letter of intent and showing your best work (which has taken years to create), is a more personal investment. Hopefully your daughter has some other great options as well. And, portfolio admits are very late in the process. So anything is still possible!
Yes I agree. Add in the stress of tight housing options at some schools where they have their same “April 1st deadline if you want to pick your dorm!” Yeah no stress at all… everything is colliding without us having all the answers.
Son just got a waitlist decision. In-state SoCal. Check your portals.
still no decision over here in-state socal
