Does anyone know if you are waitlisted does admissions want your final transcripts or AP scores before you are admitted?
I do not think they would, but you can always call admissions to confirm.
My in-state son got accepted today but will decline. He already got into Cal, UCLA, and the other UCs and SIRād to UCLA. Iām not listing his major primarily because I think he got accepted due to summer melt so Iām guessing it would be easy to identify him if I included his major.
I just posted that my son got in today off the WL - they didnāt ask for final transcripts or AP scores before admitting him.
In the same boat, I just got off for engineering. My dilemma is that the school I am admitted to admitted me for Spring 2025. I really want to start school in the fall with my peers, and SLO is the better school for engineering. Does anyone have any advice? The other school is more well-known from a rankings standpoint. My family is worried about the perceived difference in āprestigeā but for engineering, I donāt think there is any difference. I donāt know how to convince them to let me go to SLO instead.
Speaking as a parent, the issue of āprestigeā is often more about bragging rights with our friends than whatās best for our kids. My kid rejected a couple of colleges with greater national name recognition because they werenāt for her. Something about SLO clicked and I am 100% in support of her decision.
Thank you for this. Maybe I should give some context that the other school is NYU/UCLA/BU/USC level⦠my parents have always wanted me to go there but i really donāt want to start school in the spring semester. I feel like I deserve to start in the fall with my peers. I already had to decline so many other schools for money and I feel like I am not being given any autonomy in this decision. SLO has such amazing post-grad success especially for their amazing engineering department so I know I will be successful.

Although she could have applied for transfer or TAG to a UC through CC in 1 year given her number of transferable credits she had ( saving a lot of $$), this is a better growth pathway for her .
Itās been a crazy journey as she accepted and then declined 2 other colleges , (UCSC CS/game design and SJSU industrial design. )⦠bye bye deposit .
Good luck to everyone ,
Congratulations!
Iāve heard of some who requested a refund of their deposit and received it back. It doesnāt hurt to ask. Worst they can say is āno.ā
Did you put these on the application? Where?
@ThisIsInsane So happy for your kiddo to get her 1st choice!
Unfortunately nowhere !ā¦. There are no essays for CSUs to explain that you completed the CC requirements for these certificates. You of course add the various courses under DE and get the 1 point bump and maybe hope they run it through some āassist.orgā type engine to know it met the criteria for a certificate ⦠but I doubt it.
It says it in her transcript and she has most of her GED completed already so it all ends well. She is our first kiddo going through the system here. Neither I or my spouse grew up in the USA and we were like deer in the headlights trying to process the whole system!
Thank you ! Worth a shot for sure .
Well done getting her in her top school! Best of luck.
Good choice! Glad to hear about this, the in-person visit makes all the difference.
7 more days. Ughhhh ⦠still nothing for us. Looks like she will be Santa Cruz bound.
