Yay! What were his stats?
So we had two of our friends get notified of their acceptance in the 2nd and 3rd waves last year (not portfolio) so there will be more acceptances. Not sure why everyone keeps saying the next waves will be waitlists and then rejections because that is simply not true. Good luck to everyone.

Congratulations!!
I basically blitzed through the Cal State Application like a couple days after it opened since it is only grades. Color me surprised when Cal Poly emailed a couple days later asking for a portfolio and 300 word artist statement!
So I was worried the major had some impacted status, but regardless of it was or not I am super glad to be accepted.
Congratulations on her making her college choice! I am sure she is going to love it.
UCSB did acceptance for their Regents late February. The rest find out this coming Tuesday.
Just to add a bit about the waitlist. Last year DS was waitlisted for math by SLO with a 4.14 CSU weighted and a 4.4 fully weighted. Was above the recommended number of courses in every category except language other than English. CA resident. Job related to his intended major. He was admitted off the waitlist the first week in June. He was also admitted off the waitlist at UCSB on the same day.
By then, he already committed to Cal which admitted him in March.
Remember a waitlist isn’t a no. And also remember it is not an indication of how you will do with other results. Some schools are more stats focused (SLO) and some are more holistic (Cal). My kid’s application was pretty stellar in the extra curriculars and his English teacher said his essays were some of the best he’s ever read in 30 years teaching. So he was never going to shine in a stats focused application they way he could on a holistic review.
I completely agree, a waitlist isn’t a no. It means it would have been a yes and you’ve met the criteria they were looking for they just don’t have enough spaces. My son was on 3 waitlists and got off 2 the first week of June (UCSB and UW).
Hi Hazel, I have a junior and had a question about your comment. Do applicants put a back up major on the application? You mentioned your daughter was accepted for a different major.
Congrats!
Daughter

SLO allows students to list an alternate major on the CSU application. Several Cal states consider an alternate major if listed.
My S26 is a CM major and it is an incredible program. Very happy for your son. My D29 will be a Liberal Studies major.
Does anyone know if ITP (Industrial Technology and Packaging) has sent out acceptances yet? My son applied for this major and his portal still says “Awaiting Decision”. Haven’t seen anyone from this major say they were accepted so not sure if he didn’t get in or if they haven’t sent anything yet.
Thanks.
My daughter mentioned that someone she knows was accepted for this major.
Does anyone know when the second wave of admissions usually comes out?
There are sometimes a few acceptances but nothing close to the volume that were released on Friday. The next big notification should be for applicants who are being offered a spot on the waitlist.
