Cal Poly SLO Class of 2029 Freshman Discussion Thread

rolling admissions is wonderful early in the application season (e.g. Oregon State). Rolling admissions at the 11th hour (e.g. CPSLO) stinks, to put it lightly

For those still awaiting update, are you able to register for the 11th April Open House Tour through the form on the status page?

Yes it’s always been that way

My son was invited to apply to the Honors Program. Did all accepted students receive this?

how long was in between waves last year? cause they seem to have released the first wave later than usual

No, my D25 was invited, but not her BFF who has a higher GPA …wonder if invites have certain allocation per major. Her BFF is different major.

Yes still able to register, says DS name, undergrad etc. wonder why they would have that link still live if it’s a rejection

anyone hear from RPTA major?

Yes, see this link: Cal Poly SLO Class of 2029 Freshman Discussion Thread - #557 by curiousoc

yes

I think Cal Poly is one of the few schools that invites waitlists to open house too.

My son received the Honors college invite email today as well. His portal now has the honors college application in his to-do list

My daughter just completed her honors application. It was just a few multiple-choice or “select from the following option” questions. There was no essay, although I thought I read somewhere that there would be an essay? Did she miss something?

My daughter is a senior currently. When she applied for Honors there were 2 essays. That was 4 years ago so they may have changed something.

My 3rd year daughter had to write an essay to apply to honors.

Just so you know, it is an Honors program and not an Honors college like it is at some other schools.

Yes, it is an allocation per major.

The majority of the acceptances go out in the first big wave. The second wave is waitlists and the third wave is declines. BUT some more acceptances usually trickle out after the big acceptance wave.
