Calling lderochi -- almost time for March Madness!

Just a shout out to the leader of our annual pool. My performance was so abysmal last year that I shouldn’t play, but I will. :D

Geez, MOWC told me I was being paged. Nobody panic, I’m still around (even though I started doing this when DS was a Jr. in HS and now I’m planning his college graduation party!) I have renewed the Yahoo! March Madness group and will post details tonight about how to join.

PS but now that Grad School is in play, I may be back over here a little more.

Yippee! I’m in. :)

And, Iderochi, even tho Son didn’t end up Elon, it looks like D has it on her radar for PT. Don’t wander far off.

My first contribution to this thread is GO 'DORES!!!

Rock, Chalk, Jayhawk!

BYU chances of going far in the tournament have diminished a lot…but if they can manage, it would make a wonderful story.

Gotta throw this in. What do you think about the prediction that 11 teams from the Big East will make the final 68?

And… go Cuse!

Oh, and H and D1 have tickets to the Final Four. I will be in Houston, but no ticket seems to have appeared for me!?!

I went to a final four once…Larry Bird, Magic Johnson and Mark Aguirre were playing on their college teams. It was AMAZING! You knew that Larry and Magic would have fabulous pro careers–you could feel the magic even then.

Are newbies invited? The young man who’s been running our office pool for 5-ish years has announced he’s not going to do it this year. I’d be really sad not to have an entry in somewhere. (BTW–happy to be sitting here watching the Patriot League tournament. I love that this is all starting!!)

ingerp, you’re not a newbie to cc, so, of cours!

My team, the Horns, have imploded of late. I predict they’ll only go two rounds deep.

No such thing as a newbie – believe me, we’re not the most stellar predictors in the world, so it’s good that this is for pride and not money.

So glad that YDS got the party started! Was wondering when this thread would pop up.

I realize I’m jumping the gun a bit as brackets aren’t even announced, but an early start means more trash-talking! ;)

wait…is lderochi an Elon parent??? never knew that…I guess our paths will not cross though; daughter is entering this fall…

GO CUSE!!! (since the Phoenix will not be involved!!)

and does anyone else thing the Big East is basically a crap-shoot this year?? so many upsets; how can they possibly be ranked at different levels…

Yes, son is at Elon, finishing up. I’m sure your daughter will love it (but keep an eye on their ever-rising tuition – I’m not sure Elon’s expansion and growth plans are in sync with the sputtering economy!).

I hope the Big East only gets 9 bids. I know they’re good, but it seems like every year we hear that some conference (ACC, SEC, Big 12) should get a huge amount of bids because they are all so great and shouldn’t be penalized for beating each other up during the season – and then half of their bids flame out in the first weekend. I love seeing more bids for the little guys. Check out the Colonial Conference – they will probably only get 2 bids, they should get 3 and I would love to see them get 4!

Thanks for the welcoming words. Not at all a CC newbie (and this is only one of my user names!). So no $$? Too bad–I always contribute to the winner’s total!

And now I have to pick a dog in this show to use as my trash talk basis? My alma mater is not going to make it. DS#1 is at a DIII school. DS#2 hasn’t decided on a school for next year yet. I’m old and cranky enough that it’s probably a little more likely that in any given game I’m rooting against one team. I’m a terrible person.

Some DIII schools make it. Ds is hoping his does. They won the regular-season conference title but not their conference tourney. :(

I did NOT know D3 schools could make the field.

It’s a whole separate tournament. D3 schools have their own and I think it’s done differently than “March Madness.”

Did you know the term “March Madness” is not originally a college basketball thing?
