<p>You will have to be more aggressive at finding and applying to out of area employers, who probably visit the career centers at UCLA and USC first when they come to the Los Angeles area for recruiting purposes.</p>
<p>Try to include in your studies the courses whose concepts are most useful in industry – software engineering, operating systems, networks, intro theory (algorithms and complexity), databases, user interfaces, security.</p>
