which is why the responsible thing for caltech to do would be to send a retraction email to all rd applicants asap, even if everyone who got the email ends up being an admit

Btw, which email address did they use to send you the first email with the riddle? I just talked with domestic students, and 5 of them received it from a different email address, not the ugadmissions email.

750M/770RW, rural Idaho school, no awards, some astronomy research (but no papers), amateur astronomy logbooks dating back five years, award winning trumpet playing, 4.0 UW, completely maxed out school curriculum.
