CalvPoly Stats vs CS Admissions Chances

S has 3.8UW 4.0W 720M/690R 4 AP. He goes back and forth between Stats/data science and Comp Sci. Does he have a shot with either of those majors at Cal Poly w his scores?

Cal Poly SLO uses 9-11th grades with a cap of 8 semesters of AP honors points for these courses taken 10-11th grades for their GPA calculation.

Cal Poly Pomona uses 10-11th grades with a cap of 8 semester of AP honors points for these courses taken 10-11th grades for their GPA calculation.

He has a better shot at Cal Poly Pomona for CS than SLO (41% acceptance rate for 2017) For Mathematics/Stats, CPP looks like a solid Match (43%).

For Cal Poly SLO, CS had a around a projected 6% acceptance rate this year while Stats had around a 43% acceptance rate. For Stats he has a good chance at SLO.

Make sure he applies widely.

i think SLO is a coin toss for both but Pomona is highly likely to accept him. Other publics to look at - SDSU, UCR, UCSC, CSULB. Santa Clara, LMU and USD are solid choices for privates - each of them is likely to offer some merit money with his stats.
Good luck
