I already have FAFSA ID because it was created when I went to college this spring.
For some reason, when I was filling it out, the IRS retrieve tool didn’t work so I stopped filling it out and didn’t submit it.
by the way
I am considering creating a new FAFSA ID for my child’s FAFSA form. Is it ok and possible?
or
Do I need to use the same ID (that I created as a student) for my son?
Is it not allowed to create two IDs with one person, I mean only one ID is allowed with one SSN?
Your ID is your ID. It’s not tied to your status as student or parent; it identifies you. It’s now referred to as your account: Federal Student Aid. And no, you can’t have two.
FSA says: * Contributors (the student, parent, student’s spouse, or parent’s spouse), including those without a Social Security number (SSN), will be able to create a StudentAid.gov account to access and complete the online FAFSA form. Contributors who already have a verified account username and password will use their existing credentials to sign in and access the form.
I can’t find it, but I recently saw something that indicated that it will be easier to retrieve the account (ID) than it used to be. I think there’s supposed to be information that will help the user retrieve their account (if it’s not available yet, maybe it will be when the new FAFSA is available this week).
