Can i get MEDI-CAL if i turned 26, and can i use my grant money as an excuse to get medical?

I turned 26 last november, and want medical, i have tried getting CALI-COVERED, but i had no income to speak off, so im disqualified from it, since you need to pay. I am full time student, and can i use my grant money as income? its not taxed i believed.

i pressed the post too fast.
I meant MEDI-CAL, AS in california. i am currently trrying to find jobs, Since COVERED-CA, is basically samething as “qouting” for car insurance.

Does your college have health insurance? Why not use a that?

University plans are often very expensive.

If you are a full time student and have zero income, why do you not qualify for Medicaid? CA is an expansion state.

^^medi-cal is california’s version of medicaid.

Right… so wouldn’t the op qualify?

as far as I know, unemployed grad students should qualify for medical.

According to the website, one can sign up for medi-cal thru Covered Califonria.

http://www.dhcs.ca.gov/services/medi-cal/eligibility/Pages/Medi-CalEligibility2014.aspx

OP- you should qualify for Medi-Caid and BB is correct, go to Covered California and go through the application, along the way you will need to state your monthly income, that should direct you to the Medi-Caid arm of the website.

If your yearly income is less than $15,282, you should qualify for Medi-Cal (which, as others have stated, is the name that California gives to Medicaid). Go to Covered California (coveredca.com) to get it.

For people BUYING INSURANCE on Covered California, enrollment ends March 31. But for people applying for Medi-Cal, like the OP, enrollment continues all year. Medi-Cal is free.

helpful info, i will keep you updated
