Can I receive I-20 Visa early?

Hi…:)

I live in Korea now, and i am accepted from Cornell as ED.(Class of 2009)
I have a plan of studying Summer Session @ other college or Cornell or wherever,

But somebody said to me that I-20 will be delivered to my home when every admission process will be over,(maybe after June… after final decision of RD applicants.). I think it will be too late for me cz i will be at USA then… and I don’t want to be back to Korea for VISA interview after Summer School is over… because an air fare of USA to Korea is ridiculously expensive:(

What i think as perfect is going to USA with 5 years of VISA supported by I-20 of Cornell, and studying during the summer, and going to Cornell at Fall as freshman(without coming back to Korea).

So,I just want to get I-20 from Cornell as early as possible…
Will it be possible?

seems difficult…firstly it is on cornell’s policy…some universities send I-20 along with admission packet while others send it after you pay the enrollment deposit. Moreover, with the F-1 visa you will be given, you can enter US maximum one month before program starts, so that will be in July, unless of course you want to do the summer program on a tourist visa (B-2)

I got my I 20 2 weeks after i got accepted by U of Arizona. That shouldnt be a problem.

You can get the I-20 (the form issued by the college) whenever the college wants to issue it. You can’t apply for the F-1 visa earlier than 90 days before the start of the program, and can’t enter the States earlier than 30 days before the start of your course. Call Cornell and ask if they’ll issue an I-20 covering both the undergrad degree and the summer course.

If you want to start early at Cornell (like spring or summer instead of fall), you can write admissions and ask to start your enrollemnt in the summer. That way you will get the proper start date on your I-20.

yep! Okay… thanks :)
