Can someone please rank these colleges?

In your opinion, can you please put these colleges in order of best to worst?

Harvard, Brown, Tufts, Yale, Columbia, B.U. and B.C.

Thank you!

Really depends on what you want to study, but prestige-wise I’d say Harvard, Yale, Columbia, Brown, Tufts, BC, BU

Thanks for replying. :-)

I’m planning on taking whatever classes necessary to go on to medical school (and I have an interest in neurobiology).

Anyone else want to share their thoughts on these schools? I’d appreciate as many replies as possible. Thanks! :-))))

HYC tied and matter of personal preference, Brown, Tufts, BC and way below all, BU.

‘Best’ towards the top:
Yale & Harvard -> Tied; personal preference.
Brown & Columbia -> Tied; personal preference.
Tufts / BU / BC -> Tied-ish; personal preference.

well, because you didnt specify how to define ‘best,’ i’ll offer a different opinion:

LOCATION
Columbia
Harvard
BU
Brown
Yale
BC
Tufts

CAMPUS
Yale
BC
Columbia
Harvard
Brown
Tufts
BU

SOCIAL LIFE (incl. athletics, partying, etc)
BC
BU
Brown
Tufts
Columbia
Yale
Harvard

Based on where I would want to be:

Yale
Brown
Harvard
Columbia
BC
Tufts
BU

If you want to do medicine or neuro, Brown should be a lot higher on that list (maybe even top spot)… Definitely top 3 though… Brown has one of the best neuro and pre med programs in the country, and the best quality of life from all the colleges on that list…

Personally, id rank them

Brown/Yale/Harvard

Columbia

Tufts/BC/BU

Based on ease of pronouciation:

COlumbia
BU
BC
Brown
Harvard
Yale
Tufts

Wow, some people here seem to be completely obsessed with rankings. Does it really matter? All those schools are great and very pestigious. You just have to see which one is the best fit for you and offers the best program for your intended major Other than that, how are general rankings going to make a difference?

I definitely agree, frasifrasi. In my 2nd post on this thread, I specified that I was planning on persuing a career in the medical field (particularly, neurobiology).

Thanks for your replies everyone!

Any additional responses would be greatly appreciated as well.

sorry, I didn’t read your second post.

 • this still remains true for several people on cc.

Harvard
Yale
Brown = Columbia
Tufts
BCBU

in terms of where i personally would most like to go:

Columbia
Tufts
BU
Harvard
Yale
Brown
BC

If I “only” got into something like B.U. or B.C. for pre-med (which seem to pretty much be on the bottom of everyone’s lists), would that look bad when trying to get into a medical school? I mean, if I’m applying with a bunch of Tufts and Harvard kids, won’t they just dismiss a B.C. student?

Harvard/Yale
Columbia
Brown
Tufts/BC
BU

Yale
Harvard
Columbia
Brown
Tufts
BC
BU

Personally:
Harvard, Columbia, Brown, Tufts, Yale, BC, BU

Yea, ummm, never cared much for Yale.

you’re assuming that everyone goes to the most prestigious school they get into. just because you have a bc or bu degree doesn’t mean you are not harvard or yale caliber - maybe you even turned down harvard for bu. granted that doesn’t happen often. but the difference in prestige between bc/bu and an ivy is negligible, and grad school admissions officers will consider you in terms of your school. if you have a 4.0 in a really hard major at bu and are involved in activities and such, but a 3.5 at harvard (which is known for grade inflation anyway) and you played beer pong all through school, then the bu candidate will look better. it would look better even if the two choices weren’t so pronounced. don’t focus on grad school, focus on what school is best for you so that you may then do your best for your future.

Ha, just another ranking thread, these are absolutely ridiculous. Why do you have to get some other persons opinion on the “prestige” of the school. These schools are obviously great, but look around, see if you can figure out what school to attend by yourself. It’s not anybody else’s decision.
