Assuming the conduct was consensual between both parties, Oregon has a 3-year close in age exception, commonly known as Romeo and Juliet laws.

Of course, if the activity was non-consensual, all bets are off. I’d assume state law trumps county law.
@oldmom4896 She said county, not country; I misread the first time as well.
Whoops, sorry oregon101, posting before coffee is always dangerous for me. I read COUNTRY, not COUNTY.
I didn’t know there were counties that set consent laws. I’ve only ever heard of statewide laws. (I’m not saying they don’t exist, I’ve just never heard of them.)
I must’ve missed it but do we know which state the OP is from? Skieurope made a good point about Romeo and Juliet laws.
Based on the user name, I assumed Oregon.
I agree only because of the anonymity which this forum provides, and because the OP did not reveal any identifying information.
@skieurope : Please note that this Oregon law provides a defense. It does not immunize a teen from arrest or prosecution, although I have no idea how realistic that prospect might be.
[I tend to give advice based on the worst possible outcome. And yet I’m an incurable optimist. Go figure.]
Here I am. I was referring to a county in Oregon.
The information is about 5 years old and I have not checked again but have no to reason to think it has changed.
Different counties can set different criteria for different behaviors.
This particular county also has the strictest sentences for couples who have physical altercations.
I know this from working as a therapist with various cases. So serious that a single incident can (and has)
resulted in one parent living separate from the family and a year or more of meetings and so on.
I am not sure I would have believed the information about sexual contact between an under 18 and over 18 yr old to be realistic except the person I talked with
had worked for the county for decades and worked directly with offenders who had been “caught”
I was given a number of specific current situations.
And a side note-- I talked with the girl’s dad and shared my information. He laughed and said that if anything
happened he would see my kid in jail.Yet he was not willing to even monitor them in his home. He let me know that S would be a great match for his D. (this was one of my craziest parenting moments)
So–no car keys no date. Thank goodness it all went away. Of course I was quite hated for awhile.
Anyway, this is most likely not the same situation for the OP.
Or many counties wherever the state.
I asked and got the information just because he was over 18 and she was not.
No idea why I can be so paranoid
Huh? What do lily pads have to do with Oregon?
I think it was freshman year when D1 was home from college that she said to me in the car, “I think it is time for me to see a gynecologist.” I almost caused a car accident. I had to pull over to have a discussion with her. We ended up going to a doctor together. I was in the room when the doctor went over birth control options she had. I was happy she trusted me enough to want me be there. We never talked about when/who she had sex with. When her BF(s) visited her while in college, they always stayed in separate rooms because that’s how we rolled.
D2 and I were not as close growing up, but she had her older sister as her go to. I was very happy she went to D1 when she got her period - really didn’t want to go through how to put on tampon again.
I had a very open relationship when my girls. I talked to them in general about sex, relationship, and my view on accidental pregnancy way before they were in any relationship. To me it was easier/better to discuss in generality
Sorry, I missed where you were asking were OP was from, not Oregon101.
No, I understood that. I just can’t imagine a DA wanting to prosecute such a case, though. But I’m sure it happens.
This case finally got thrown out and the kid released from jail after 15 months, but it pretty much ruined him, as it took his college scholarship (to Vanderbilt) away and sent him to the pokey for having consensual sex with a minor http://espn.go.com/sports/news/story?id=1794781
^He overcame that and played in the NFL, retiring from professional football last year.
