Can we talk about blue jeans

Yes Abasket, Sanitas are cloggish. I can handle some flare (nothing more than book cut) but my preference is for a straighter leg. Skinny jeans don’t work all that well for me.

Many of you have mentioned Levis. I used to LOVE them and then the stores I frequented stopped carrying them. Guess I may have to try some new places and seek them out. They really are a style that I like - good old 5 pocket.

I have a Kohls that isn’t terribly far, so I will see if I can get to it. Costco has never worked well for me as they don’t carry the smaller sizes. Boo hoo. They have great prices and a wonderful return policy. Nordstroms is quite a distance from where I live.

Levis never seem to go on sale and the most of the stores by my house don’t carry all the styles. I signed up for Levi’s online sales alerts and a few times a year they have a 30% sale. Here is the link to their main site: [Levi's - The official store for Levi’s Jeans, Tops, Jackets, Shorts, and Accessories.](http://us.levi.com/home/index.jsp)

There’s no fashion in particular. If you want classy, I’d go for a dark blue pair of boot cuts. Expect to pay up to $40.

Sounds like I’m the same size as the OP. I’ve tried countless brands and styles of jeans and highly recommend Jag jeans. They make a few different straight leg and narrow boot styles that fit me well and are flattering.

^^Thanks for the tips.

I’m 5’2", 122 lbs and all apple…ug. Almost no jeans are ever comfortable on me–too tight in the waist.

The only brand that comes close are Lee’s and I get them from Kohl’s. I don’t like the classic–they come up pretty high. They also have “just below the waist” and “low” styles. The Lee jeans are getting shorter, and I don’t think jeans should be too short on a 5’2" person :)

Lee emailed me back–there are 3 lengths --Petite short, petite, and short. That’s from shortest to tallest (in the short sizing!) They are labeled PS, P, or S. At most Kohl’s you’ll find these jeans both in the petite section and in the regular Lee jean section.

I too am 5’2" but avoid having to hem my jeans by buying skinny jeans and letting them bunch a little. I have hemmed too many jeans, only to have them shrink in the wash. My favorites of the moment are Levi’s. I do Zappos. They have a number of different styles and free shipping and free returns. Beats dressing rooms.

I buy most of my jeans at Nordstroms. Right now I’m wearing NYDJ and Lauren. If anyone is curious what jean styles are popular this spring, check out their web site.

I’m a fan of Eddie Bauer. They aren’t too expensive or “mom-ish” and they have a selection of styles and sizes to accommodate different builds. They even have a few styles that come in “regular long” (in addition to tall) which works great for me as I am not especially tall but I do have long legs.

Kohl’s does carry Levi’s and they will go slightly on sale - but if you have an extra % off coupon you can then do pretty well on price. Not sure if they are good about keeping many petite sizes though.

My H wears 501s virtually every day of his life (same size for the past 35 yrs 30/34).
For Christmas, I bought him three pairs with 40% off + free shipping.

I have mobility issues & while it is much improved lately, it still is hard & I get really worn out so I don’t want to waste my energy trudging around a store, when I can shop online & then go walk on the beach.
I just bought some pull on jeans from Jag/Zappos. Only $64 and they fit really well & they are petite!

I usually wear my tops untucked, so I like the smoother waistband.

My goodness…is everyone on College Confidential 5’2". I grew up in northern Minnesota and back in the 60’s/70’s we considered girls at 5 foot 6 to be quite short!

Well, I am the shortest in my birth family. About 5’2 &3/4" ( although that all important 3/4" is probably gone now) :frowning: ( I was also a premie as was my oldest)
My sister is 5’6, & my mother was 5’5. ( my Dad was also 5’10",as is my brother)
My H is the tallest in his family @ 5’7".
I didn’t want an H any taller because I like to wear his sweaters.
Youngest D is 5’8"?
Oldest is 5’1".

They must grow them strapping in Minn.
In the northwest we have a large scandinavian- american population, who can be tall, but we also have a large asian american population, who can be small.
( Pacific- Islanders can be very tall however)

My Ds wear heels with their jeans all of the time. Check out any of the fashion mags or style blogs and you will see lots of heels with jeans.

You have to be careful what type of top you wear with at the waist jeans. Many moved away from the “mom” look as it makes your behind look very long/big. Wearing them with a stomach and tush covering top could work if that is what you are comfortable in.

Trouser jeans are a staple for those who have more athletic thighs. In a dark rinse they are popular for wearing to the office on jeans/casual days.

Paige, J Brand,Hudson, Joe’s, True Religion are more expensive brands but you can find them at Nordstrom Rack for under $100 and they do last.

There are so many different styles you should be able to find something you like. I wear jeans everyday but I couldn’t imagine myself in basic 5 pocket Levis. I need more style! ;)

edit: Also be aware of back pocket placement. It really does make a difference in how they shape the rear. If you are flat and need some curve help, look for pockets with flaps.

At 5’2" I am the tallest of all the females in my immediate family and all my first cousins. I always though of myself as a giant.

My guy cousins are lucky if they reach 5’6"

DH’s family are all shorties, too.

I have no bum so having something on the back pockets, flaps, buttons definitely make a difference.

I learned so much from watching Trinni and Susannah. :)

I just got back from Target. They were heavily featuring boot cut and skinny jeans. Nothing in between. Absolutely nothing. Think I’ll head out to Kohls next. Longer drive so I have to plan a trip there.

I like Banana Republic jeans, talls. They tend to be a little higher in the back, but not in the front. If they come up high in front, they are uncomfortable when I sit. Eddie Bauer theoretically makes pants and jeans for different body types, but all too curvy. They also run out of smaller tall sizes quickly. I love the sites that have reviews written by real women who describe their own body type and how the pants/jeans fit, would not buy on line without a review.

Bookreader, do you have a nice woman’s boutique anywhere near you. My favorite store has been putting all their fall clothes on the sale rack getting ready for spring arrivals. The $198 jeans from last fall are all being marked down - 50%-60%. In a few weeks they will be marked down even more. Usually there are a lot of choices in small sizes because there are so few of us teeny ladies.

I honestly don’t know emilybee. I’ve never been a boutique shopper so those stores tend to be ‘invisible’ to me. Talbots is as boutique-y as I get and that’s because they have a petite department and have good final clearance prices. I may just have to ‘open my eyes’ and start looking. :-)

I wish that more places carried petite sizes! Hemming jeans isn’t fun at all, although I can do it when I have to.

Lorelei
I also like the kind that are a bit higher in the back and lower in the front. That is a more comfortable fit.
