We can grow plants indoors, but it’s a bit tricky if they’re trees and/or they need bees for colonization. Melons, pumpkins, cucumber, and all fruit and nut trees need bees.
Harvard is working on Robobees
Yup… and how far have we gotten with that since the 60s?
^^Well, the New Horizons spacecraft is visiting Pluto, per the other thread. That’s pretty cool.
The cars are pretty close to driving themselves?
That gives a whole new meaning to “drone”.
If robots can be developed to reproduce themselves, we may no longer need people. Climate change may not be an issue.
Actually, the earth doesn’t need any people so climate change isn’t an issue.
Yeap. So why worry ?
Raising my hand her to represent all the people out there who still DO need land and sunshine. I’m not quite ready for Elysium yet and Wall-E was a very cute movie, one of my favorites, but I don’t view it as a sound model for human existence.
What are you going to do when there is no sun?
Well, McFly was right. This is the year of the hoverboard (well… its a work in progress) https://gigaom.com/2014/10/20/back-to-the-future-was-right-a-working-hover-board-will-be-available-in-2015/

Very true and I think it’s really cool as well. I meant, though, how far have humans physically gone? I’m NOT optimistic that we’re getting any more advanced human space travel any time soon.
And the Trekkie in me bawls at that fact.
If there is no sun we will all die, DrGoogle. Case closed.
No need for people to exist.
And if NYC has trillions of dollars worth of damage, the government will print trillions of dollars and give the money to the formerly wealthiest people of NY. We believe in socialism. As long as the wealthiest people are made whole, no problem.
But if Miami blows up, I don’t care. The leaders in Florida say there is no climate change so nothing can happen. So if Miami ends up permanently under water, the country should just say, "Nothing happened. What’s Miami? There is no Miami. And ignore the former city of Miami.
Driverless cars a given. They are going to make a very big impact.
We have Miami in Ohio.
We might have to save Miami of Ohio. My son in laws family went to that school.
Its unfortunate that what could have been a productive dialogue has devolved into an Alfred E Neuman stance.
If you can’t laugh, then what’s the point? It’s better than yelling at people.
@dstark, well, leaders in FL may deny climate change, but many of the leaders in South Florida don’t.
Not every region gets the leaders they want.
