Canadian "Backups"

For Canadian students who are looking to go to university in the US.
Do you guys have any Canadian schools for backups?
If so, please tell us your choice(s), and why its your choice.

thanks:)

York is probably the no.1 consensus backup school in Canada since it’s ridiculously easy to get into.

Personally, my backups were:
Western, Queen’s and UBC

With my top choices being:
McGill and UofT

But to be honest, if you have over 85% average in your final year you can probably get into any school in Canada (exceptions being Health Sciences at Mac, Commerce at Queen’s, Schulich, AEO at Western, Engineering Science at UofT and those random programs at Waterloo that I don’t know about that need entrance exams).

My number one Canadian back up university would be McGill. It’s a pretty good university and it has a decent reputation. I believe their law school is one of the top in the country. Then my second back up would be a tie between U of T and Western Ontario. If all fails, then I’ll probably go to UBC or Dalhousie…

If your grades are 90+, you will get in pretty much anywhere (besides those that require a supplementary application). If you are going for the prestige, then UofT or McGill are for you, but no matter where you go your education won’t vary too much.

my #1 backup is McGill
but I’ll be applying to UofT, Waterloo, McMaster HSci, UBC, and Queens.

I think I can get into most of them, with a consistent 92%+ average over the past three years and a probable 95%+ in grade 12 :)

I am almost resigned to the fact that I will be going to McGill because I probably won’t get into the States…oh well, we’ll see

Hey, don’t say that! Good luck follows people who are positive ;)

Anyways, good luck to everyone…!

Much of the info provided here is quite dated. Have a look at the entrance requirements for many programs now at McGill for example- 90% would not cut it. Same for some degrees at Waterloo, U of T, UBC.
