Care and grooming . . .

Okay, I just found out what BB is, now there is CC? What is that?

Bra sizes?

CC is supposedly color corrector. The review that I have been reading say that BB and CC just vary in consistency and coverage by brand so one is not that much different than the other across the board. It is more about finding a brand and consistency/sheerness that works for you.

Basic face in under 5 minutes:
Garnier light/medium BB cream applied with fingertips on face and eye lids
L’Oreal Lineur Intense Felt Tip Liquid eye liner in earthen rock brown on top lash line
light coat of Clinique mascara
something fairly neutral and sheer on lips - could be Clinique nude shade or I have and Almay that I like (Almay Color + Care Liquid Lip Balm - Blooming Balm for a sheer pink and Apple A Day for a sheer red)
I also use a Clinique Chubby Stick from time to time. I have a red that I like that is soft and sheer.

If I need a little pop like this morning when I was tired I will do the luminous shadow dab at the inside corner of mey eyes and under the brow line.

I am interested in these brow waxes and clear mascaras. My recent goal is to pay better attention to having neat brows. It makes a big difference without adding a lot on the face.

I am very curious about these luminous powders. Can someone tell me more about them?

I use sunscreen, after washing my face, then brush my teeth & clean my glasses or put in contacts while it is absorbed.
Then a couple swipes with stick foundation, mostly around my nose which tends to look pink since I am very fair.
Tinted lip balm & Im done.
I do more if I am going out, then I put eyes on. Winged liner, mascara, the works.
Then I have to wear my contacts for two reasons. One, if I don’t have my contacts in, even with a magnifying mirror I don’t see well enough to apply eye makeup, & two- my lashes hit my glasses and gunk up the lenses if I wear mascara.
If my hair got wet when I washed my face, I blow it dry, and that is usually enough, but if I want it to look different, I’ll use a beeswax or silicone, depending if I want it to look rough or smooth.
I’m not going to say it only takes me five minutes.

  • nothing* takes me five minutes, because I dropped something under the sink & can’t see to get it, so I have to find a flashlight. Then I knocked my contact into the waste paper basket, so I need to find new ones.
Then the dog wants out, so while I am out with him, I decide to cut some roses for the house & snag my shirt on a thorn…

“But I’m interested in trying Baby Foot (on my feet!) - has anyone used it?”

Yes. I’ve done so twice. indeed, a friend of mine just poked her head in my office today because her daughter wants to use it and knew that I had! I don’t particularly have dry skin / cracked heels or anything, but it really does work - your skin falls away in a few days and it’s baby-soft underneath. You’ll use it, you won’t feel anything, you’ll think that this is a big waste of yoru time and money and then poof, 5 days later - your skin sheds off, kind of like a sunburn, but with no pain.

I don’t use any of the loose BareMinerals anymore because it was just too much of a mess. I use the new liquid foundation and the brush they push with it. (yeah- I’m a sucker for products) It blends really well and you just need a drop of the foundation. I also use their equivalent of a BB cream- basically tinted moisturizer. I vary day to day. The BareMinerals solid powder eye shadows are really good, too.

My latest discover is Beauty Counter. My young neighbor sells it. It’s one of those sell-at-home deals, but it is all natural product and very safe. I love the shampoo. I also love the facial oil, which is something I NEVER thought I would use after all the younger years of oily skin. You use a little drop and it is awesome on your skin and makes it look bright and glowing. I use it under my moisturizer. Most of the brands now have a facial oil.

I also use the Nars Multiple stick for cheeks and eye shadow and have a couple colors of it. I brush some Nars of BareMinerals powder blush on top of it. Again, I use the solid BareMinerals powder and not the loose. Sometimes I’ll dust some BareMinerals powder on top of all this (again, the hard compact and not the loose stuff).

I have a drugstore brand mascara- CoverGirl somethingorother- that is getting hard to find. I also have an expensive Kevin AAucoin mascara that got a good review and I like it a lot. I use a brow pencil by BareMinerals and some sort of under-eye highlighter which works better for brightening any dark circles for me than concealer.

This probably sounds like a lot of product, but except for the foundation (which is very light) it’s just a swipe of things. I never did master eyeliner, and with contact lenses I never felt confident with it.

I love lipsticks, and have pretty much decided that Mac and Nars make the best ones for me. I might put some gloss on over the lipstick for a little more shine.

I like Clinique, too, but right now I’m more focused on some other brands.

I have a tough time with the scent in a lot of lipsticks so I can always trust Clinique to not drive me crazy with smells.

I get much of my makeup at Fred Meyer or the natural foods store.
I don’t go to the mall, and they are always getting new products and testers.
Although I used to get some Sally Hansen plumping lip gloss that seems to have been dropped, so now I have to go to Sephora!
I like going to Sephora better than the dept stores, cause the sales clerks seem to be college students and don’t try and push product.
The cosmetic counters at Nordstroms ( except for MAC) are staffed by people my age, and I feel sorry for them having to work retail, and I feel guilty if I don’t buy much.
Has anyone tried this?
I have a Clairsonic ( for my face & body) which is great, but my feet are gnarly.

Evenings:

Cetaphil wash
prescription Retin-A twice a week in the evenings (been doing this for 30+ years)
Olay Regenerist Micro sculpting cream about 3 days a week
CeraVe other days (I mix the Retin-A with the Cetaphile)

Mornings:

Olay Regenerist Serum
Olay Regenerist DNA lotion with SPF 35
Mascara
Brow powder

On special occasions

Clinique Super City Block - a tinted oil free SPF
A pencil eye liner topped with a powdered liner
Pinch your cheeks Origins Blush

And on VERY special occasions (if I know there will be much picture taking)

A bit of Bare Minerals powder on the T-zone.

I have never liked the feeling of foundation or powder (even the Bare Minerals feels prickly). At almost 56 I have very very good skin. Thanks to dad keeping us out of the sun as kids and to the early Retin-A routine. I still routinely get compliments in check out lines, from the hair dresser and even from the Botox injector.

If I’m going to be out in the sun for an extended period of activity time I’ll use the CeraVe physical block SPF 50.

And I have a question - for those of you who say you have a "5 minute " make up routine, can you be specific about what that entails???>>>>>>>>>

I use a Garnier SPF 30 moisturizer. I use creme Mary Kay foundation. I use a cream MK blush. Then I use good old Max Factor loose powder with a brush to 'set it". Unfortunately, I cannot wear eye make up. One of my next projects is to get some permanent eye liner top and bottom so I at least have that.
At night, I clean my face w/ Pond’s wipes. That’s it.

Anyway to change the thread title? I thought this might be about pet care!!!>>>>>>>>

I admit, I was a bit leary as I thought it might be about nether regions.

Ha! For you, it could be.

Pizzagurl, how do you use the Baby Foot?

That was a quick pivot!

I use tarte - an under foundation cream that keeps my makeup on and looking fresh all day.

I can take a shower - including washing hair and shaving, do my hair, make up and dress and be out the door in 30 minutes.

I like using WEN for my hair.

You can only use it one way. It comes in these gel-filled booties. You put them on your feet, sit or lie down for an hour, then remove. You do nothing else (maybe you rinse afterwards, I don’t remember). You feel nothing. Nothing looks different. And a week later, your foot skin basically peels. There are pictures online but they are a little dramatic.

Looking up tarte - looks great @eyemamom! does it have a scent?

I want this!
