Carnegie Mellon Summer Academy for Math and Science (SAMS) and AP/EA 2018

@ak2018 Phew, it’s a bit reassuring that at least my application was seen

I got an email a couple days ago from CMU and I got into the SAMS program yay! I’ve been reading this thread and it’s been really cool.

Is there a groupchat for accepted students?

I hope everyone gets notified soon! Stay positive!

Since MITES/MOSTEC decisions came out last night, remember to notify CMU ASAP if you got into either program and do not plan to attend SAMS anymore. This will get people off the waitlist.

What science courses did you take? Was it Chem, physics, AND bio, or did you choose just 1?

We choose one @Bee0508

I got waitlisted from SAMS but I got into MOSTEC!

@1TigerJ894 Congrats!!!

Rip I got rejected from MITES. My only hope is AI.
Luckily I have alternative plans ready for when CMU gives me that rejection

When should the answers for sams come out?

Did all of the replies for acceptance already come or no?

@KO2019 You should get an email early next week or you can call on Monday.

Okay, I just wasn’t sure because I called and they told me last week but I never got anything.

Rejected from MITES

Rejected from MITES here too, though we didn’t have much hope b/c of high income and also since we didn’t have ACT scores at the time. It’s nice to actually get a rejection notice; so much better than wondering!

Hi everyone, I was accepted into the SAMS program about two weeks ago and I’ve been reading your posts, they’ve been very helpful. I applied last minute and I’m Hispanic low income.

I agree with Chunkylegs that it was actually nice to get a notice, even if it was just a rejection notice

Is MITES or SAMS better?

@KO2019 Some say MITES, others say SAMS, but you’ll ultimately end up at top schools in either programs.

I got into both SAMS and MOSTEC! Do you think it would be realistic to do both programs this summer?

@1TimeHero Not at all. SAMS will keep you very busy and doing MOSTEC would bite into your limited free time. Also, the conference is during the last week at SAMS.
