I got a rejection letter. Applied AI first, AP/EA second. 35 ACT, asian male, not low income
@MyGPAIsAnL – did you get a letter or an email? Did it say how many people applied to the AI program or how many openings there were? Perhaps you were overqualified. It seems like with MITES for example, those with lower SAT/ACT scores were being accepted – maybe the program thought they could be helped more?
@MyGPAIsAnL did the rejection letter have any details of how many applied or how many got in?
I got rejected I have feeling it has to do with my income
Does the sams program explicitly state waitlisted because mine just says that there was too many applicants and not enough spots?
did anyone get a confirmation email when they turned in their application, because I didn’t get one but I got a rejection letter. My friend also got a rejection and all she did was create an account so idk if they even reviewed mine
@anonymous522083 I applied for AP/EA, I don’t know if it’s the same but if you were waitlisted it should specifically say you were placed on the waiting list and then ask you to confirm your spot on the waiting list.
Summer Academy of Math and Science Admission Decision
Thank you for the opportunity to consider your application for admission to Carnegie Mellon’s Summer Academy for Mathematics and Science. At this time, we’re unable to offer you a place in the program. We’d like to emphasize that this decision is a reflection of the considerable increase in applications we experienced this year, as well as enrollment limitations of our summer program. While we had many qualified applicants like you apply, we simply ran out of space in the program.
We sincerely hope that you’ll continue to consider Carnegie Mellon as you progress in your college search. While we’re unable to accommodate your interest in our Summer Academy for Math and Science program, we encourage you to be a candidate for admission to Carnegie Mellon as an undergraduate. Talented and motivated students like you could be a good fit for our undergraduate programs.
Allow us to be a resource as you begin the college search or application process. Carnegie Mellon is committed to supporting you from start to finish. If you’d like to stay in touch with a member of our admission staff, please fill out this form. We look forward to connecting with you.
There are also other opportunities to stay in contact with Carnegie Mellon. For instance, our Celebration of Diversity Weekend for high school seniors or information sessions offered in various parts of the country each spring and fall.
We appreciate your interest in Carnegie Mellon and hope to stay connected in the future.
Best regards,
Gregory Edleman

Did the email
say that
@anonymous887655 I did not receive a confirmation email, but my application does have proof of submission attached. Additionally, I did receive a confirmation that my recommendation was received.
what really ? what did the confirmation email say
What does the email look like for rejection from AI? Does it say the word AI in it at all? Because I got rejected from SAMS and that was my second choice and I really want to know if that means I got rejected from AI.

That should mean I got rejected to all since they couldn’t pay for me right?
I dont know, I kind of feel that that email is only for rejection from AP/EA but it is unclear…
Well my first choice was AI so I’m assuming that since it was bumped to my second choice, AP/EA, I didn’t get in AI?
Or maybe they are just telling us that we were rejected from our second and third choices, and no decision has been made on the first choice yet.
@Daverybest Why would they even consider us for our second choice before they decide on our first choices? That doesn’t make sense. I’m just going to mentally prepare myself for what I’m going to do next
I AM HELLA MAD because I was a better applicant than my friend and he got a accepted into the program. I have better grades test scores and I am going to intel. The only reason I feel he got in was his income which is below poverty and my income was 80-90k
I legit want to cry I have been denied every where I apply. I have taken 5 apclasses and in the full ib program and going into intel with amazing letters of rec which mine was written my principal whose letter was amazing I do not understand
