Carnegie Mellon Summer Academy for Math and Science (SAMS) and AP/EA 2018

Applied to AI 1st choice, SAMS 2nd, Game Academy 3rd.
I didn’t receive any e-mail so far …

@bhoangluu That’s weird. I thought they sent all the emails today. Guess they didn’t. Did you apply last minute? I’m thinking about sending them something so I could possibly get on the waitlist for SAMS

I don’t think they have sent acceptances yet for AI - has anyone received an email for AI?

@silvercloud if AI is part of the summer inclusion program then yes, I’ve been rejected. However some people are stating that it may only be for AP/EA but I found it strange if it were true since I applied AI first

I applied AI first then SAMS but I haven’t gotten anything yet either

@zanabou I submitted all the materials back in early January.
Btw, I still updated my transcripts, standardized test scores, etc on the way.

Did anyone get into AI? I’m really upset atm because I relied on the AI program and now all other application deadlines have passed.

I applied to AI first and I am still waiting on a decision. I expect I’ll be rejected, especially since I am from a High income family, but

Submitted on the deadline. I kinda forgot about rolling admissions…

I have been following this thread ever since there were only four pages, and I had really wanted to go. Congrats to all those who got in, and thank you @ak2018 for all the help! The rejection hurt, but just like MITES, the application was quite an experience. Hopefully, I will find something to do over the summer.

@keesbees At this point, I’d look for something local, such as an internship.

@MyGPAIsAnL Yes, it unfortunately means you have not been accepted to any of their programs.

@zanabou Yes, 50 people were waitlisted from SAMS. Also, I have talked to the SAMS admissions officers. They will not accept any new materials.

@SAMSReject2018 You’re welcome.

@ak2018 so do you think it is worth it to send something to get on the waitlist? I mean I have nothing left to lose since I was already rejected. Thanks

@zanabou It’s not worth it as they will not review it.

Okay. Do you know anything about the waitlist for MITES. Like how many people got off of it last years of the years before. Also, thanks for you help

@zanabou You’re welcome. I do not, but it isn’t likely that they’ll have not too many people getting off the waitlist. But it could happen though. You’ll just have to find out in May.

@ak2018 Since I didnt get an email, does it mean that I got rejected from AI (it was my only choice)

No, it sounds like they are slowly releasing emails to all applicants. @Mahindra

@ak2018 Hey guys, I understand that this forum was for diversity programs AP/EA and SAMS. However, I wondered if any of you guys have any insight on regular and paid pre-college AP/EA. It will be fantastic if you all can answer how many people get in, when will we get the decisions, and how the programs work together. For better understanding of the last question,I wanted to know if SAMS and AP/EA can interact with each other or whether they have separate activities/ dorms. Thanks!

@Frankenstein2 it is my understanding that they essentially combine the two programs. I have never gone, so I do not know for sure, but my guess is that the majority of the two programs will be done together.

rejected from SAMS, just called and they said that AI decisions are being emailed this week, ready for the double whammy lol, they also said they were uncertain if it would get put into the directory, and even though i put my application down for ai as second choice it is still getting reviewed!!

Has anyone been told over the phone that they have been accepted to AI? If so, are you in the directory or have you also received an email? They keep changing the dates for AI – I was told on Monday they would be sent out by the end of the day.
