So wait, if we were rejected from SAMS, we still have a chance to get accepted to the AI Program? I too put the AI Program as my second choice.
@Frankenstein2 @Alevander Both programs will interact with each other, but rarely and not directly. You will see each other at lunch, breakfast, and dinner. Other than that, not much. The SAMS and AP/EA programs are two different programs. I do not know the number of people who will be selected this year or when you you will get decisions as the deadline for the paid program was just three days ago. I will say, however, that AP/EA, for those who are willing to pay, has an 80% acceptance rate. Not that competitive at all, but the program is still very rigorous. It definitely won’t raise your chances at CMU too much, if that’s what you’re looking for.
@keesbees and everyone else asking: This is something I figured out. If your letter says “Summer Academy for Math and Science Decision”, that is strictly for SAMS. If it says “Summer Opportunities for Access & Inclusion Decision” then that is the decision for all other programs, except AI. For all of you waiting on AI, there is still hope.
OMG! so i may not have been rejected from AI! Hahahha trying not to get my hopes up too high tho:)
@ak2018 Thank you
@ak2018 You previously told me that since mine says “Summer Opportunities for Access & Inclusion Decision” that I was also rejected from AI, my first choice. Your last post states that AI applicants still might have a chance although the “Summer Opportunities for Access & Inclusion Decision” rejection was received. Could you possibly clarify
Is there anyway of receiving feedback on my application or finding out if they even had the chance to review it?
@Alevander @ak2018 Ok, thank you for answering my questions!
@MyGPAIsAnL That was my mistake. I didn’t believe that two or three decision letters would be sent. I will call tomorrow to make sure, but it sounds like AI, like SAMS, is sending its decision separately. It might be that you were already rejected for AI in that letter and that was the email that they sent or that everyone will get another email specifically for AI. I am more unfamiliar with this part of the process, so I’m just guessing.
Wow talk about an emotional roller coaster. @ak2018 I really appreciate this though
@anonymous522083 You can call them to check.
@ak2018 do you happen to know if there are a lot of people on the AP/EA waitlist? (This is for the access and inclusion AP/EA waitlist)
.@ak2018, were you able to get any additional information about what is going on with AI? Any insights into whether any acceptances or rejections have been sent out, how many people applied and will be admitted, etc.?
@ferncuad I do not know that number. Sorry.
@silvercloud My phone was dead for much of the morning and afternoon, so I did not have a chance to call. Will try tomorrow.
@silvercloud I just called earlier today and the lady said they’d be out tomorrow
Well, my name is on the directory for APEA. Probably means that I got in and have to pay. I was also wondering if I was eligible for the scholarship because I am a sophomore, but the website said the access and inclusion programs were only for juniors.
@Frankenstein2 I’m pretty sure the tuition waiver program (aka access and inclusion) is for juniors only… but I could be wrong. Did you apply through access and inclusion for AP/EA? Or just regular application?
Are all AI decisions tomorrow? Do I still have a chance although I’ve been rejected through a very vague email already?
@celestialkairos – I hope they do release the AI results tomorrow. Thanks for checking and posting. They told me on Monday they would be out by the end of the day, so I hope this time it really does happen!
@ferncuad I first applied for the access and inclusion program, but when I realized I was not eligible I called the office and they told me not to finish that application and apply through AP/EA regularly. So I wasn’t really surprised when I got the rejection letter for diversity on Tuesday. I never even realized how difficult it is to be accepted in the diversity programs until I saw this thread, so I’m kind of glad that I didn’t put my soul into my first application.
@Frankenstein2 Unfortunately, you would not be eligible. The access and inclusion programs do give scholarships to both junior and seniors, but only to those same juniors and seniors who apply through the access and inclusion app.
@MyGPAIsAnL We’ll have to see today.
