Congratulations @cakekio! Which school were you accepted into?
Maybe not an a priori rank but there has to be some sort of sort order in which they are calling students back. I don’t think it is first in first out… or just random.
Just a guess, but I would assume they are looking by school to see if they have their projected yield of full pay to mostly full pay students to meet their $ goal by school. If not they look at their class stats and determine what do they need to fill based upon sex, race, etc. and then look at that those on the waitlist that can help them meet that $ goal.
If they have already met their $ goal and still have spots from a total class size goal, then they continue to look to students that they think would be a good match based upon the demographic population they are trying to create.

But like I said, I’m just guessing. Either way by CMU saying they don’t rank it gives them full flexibility in brining on whomever they want from the waitlist.

I just got a response from CMU about SCS waitlist spots. They said that they don’t give out that information and they will notify us when the spots are filled.
Just called the admission office regarding the open sports for Tepper, and they didn’t give out any specifics numbers and only said that there are still spots left and will finalize decision within a week after reviewing. Tepper boys hopefully this helps
