Carnegie Mellon University Class of 2024 Wait list

call, then text if u don’t respond to the call, then email

@TheBubble wow, congrats. Your score is good enough to clear the waitlist as a first-gen Asian female candidate, I wish I could get some data points on the stats needed for an Asian male from California to clear the waitlist for SCS.

Anyone get into Dietrich today?

Nope

Is Dietrich even accepting students off waitlist or they are already full. Start to think that they r full cuz all the other schools have been accepting students except Dietrich.

Hopefully they will give Dietrich waitlist a big surprise today.

If someone really asked a question like that, I would be so g r a t e f u l.

On the letter they said everything would be out by May 8, today, for the PWL

yea they did and Dietrich still has not accepted much student. who knows maybe everyone got in committed. CMU is a pretty good school tbh.

They should still let us know our results today then, accepted or rejected.

Yeah they should. I just want to know regardless of the decision.

That is true, but then they changed it on the CMU Waitlist FAQ to say this:

I’m on the Priority Waiting List. When will I receive my admission decision?
*Students that elect to remain on the Priority Waiting List should submit the Waiting List Reply Form via the Where Am I in the Process? portal beginning April 10 but no later than 11:59 p.m. ET on May 1. Initial Waiting List decisions will be available beginning May 4, and all students on the Priority Waiting List should receive their decision by June 1. If admitted from the Priority Waiting List, you’ll have 72 hours to post your non-refundable enrollment deposit of $800.
*

Is the May 8th. date relevant this year?

The email CMU sent reads “We anticipate the Priority Waiting List process will be ongoing throughout May.” (in bold letters)

Although the original decision letter said May 8th. the latest email and website indicate something different. I tend to think the email and website are more current because of the unusual year.

they already accepted so many students I doubt there are spots left.

Does anybody know the status of the spots left for engineering?

Personally think this year there might be more spot given covid 19. International student makes up 20% of freshmen at cmu. Covid most likely last all the way until next year, with the 2nd wave starting around fall, the beginning of school year. Prettt sure getting visa to us is practically impossible for the rest of this year. If I was an international student, I’ll prob take a gap year given current circumstances. That’s prob why on their website they said pwl would take basically the entirety of May.

So no one’s heard from Dietrich huh?

there are a lot of green card holders that are not affected by the virus they can come and go as they please.

really starting to think they are just full in the beginning

Best input I can share is as of Wednesday there were spots left for engineering, except for EE/CE. They are moving through the list for the remaining engineering majors. If you have other schools that you need to commit to within days, if may not be offensive to inquire the admissions for an update today.

I don’t suggest anyone pester the admission office. I think the admission committee can paint a good picture of the applicant via their lenses through the application. By staying constant contact with the reviewer may not be helpful. I personally didn’t have any separate contact with any named admission staff.
