Carnegie Mellon University Class of 2024 Wait list

i mean green card holder wouldn’t really count as international student would they. Also im not sure whats the stats for percentage of green card holder out of the international student. An international student requires either an F-1 or J-1 visa, and he/she always pays out-of-state tuition rate in public colleges. He is not eligible for federal and most state financial aids. A permanent resident (green card holder) needs no visa and typically pays in-state tuition rate, depending on the university’s residency requirements. A PR is generally eligible for all financial aids.

so ya green card holders wouldn’t consider as international students.

Ya that’s what I meant. Thanks for explaining. Also I called admission today and they gave me quite a lackluster and vague response about the spots left. “We will email u when the spots are full”

It depends on schools. My friend is one and he still counts as an international student. I think only passports matters. Because even its green card its only saying that you are allowed to live here but still you are not considered a full citizens. cuz u cannot vote and stuff.

I am an international student so I think it will be pretty hard for me to get off the waitlist. :frowning:

Someone on Reddit got in for MCS.

Now I really doubt that Dietrich has 100 vacancies.

I doubt they ever had them.

I’m also assuming SCS has filled up by now. I’m just annoyed that they haven’t sent any emails or anything giving information about it so I can stop being anxious about the decision.

According to Google, Dietrich accepted 277 students for the freshman class last year. So I doubt 100 would ever make much sense.

@MAMS212 if not CMU, where are you going?

Wait, so, does the PWL process end today? And if we are all rejected, will we be moved into regular waitlist (which ends on 1st June) or that’s it?

@ilikemyhouse i think this year they’re going to use the PWL until June 1st cuz of COVID-19

@zzzzzzzzzzz12344 Hopefully that’s the case

@zzzzzzzzzzz12344 Oh ok but I think there won’t be much hope since spots are very limited and they should be pretty much filled by now. What were you waitlisted for?

I applied forDietrich and after all those days still no news. I Doubt they have any space left considering it has been already a week in. Spots should be filled already. Maybe Dietrich is full to begin with.

I thought after May 8th, the regular waitlist decisions start and results will be there for them before June 1st.

Someone on Reddit said that they called and they told them that they still have spots and will be accepting over the next few weeks. I don’t want to get my hopes up though.

Why would admission drag on this process? They still have transfer applications to finish up. I looked it up and CMU usually accepts around 100 on waitlist and I think they have done so already. As far as I know no international kids so prob 100% enrollment in fall.

Maybe because of the pandemic? I’m not sure exactly either but the virus may be interfering with their enrollment goals and ability to discuss applications.
