I think the pandemic only affects international students due to travel restrictions. Anyways it doesn’t hurt to keep waiting. who knows maybe a surprise will come along the way.
It definitely affects people from the states. Millions of people are now unemployed. OOS students could choose going to a school that is closer to home. Others might take a gap year etc.
So possibly they extended the period of PWL decision release w/out telling us?
@L1LSwag378 I think they will probably extend the PWL decision release, but idk if they’ll tell us. There’s also the chance that they already filled up some of their schools, but need to extend the PWL for their other schools.

In the letter they say all the PWL applicants will get their decisions by May 8th, but probably the pandemics kinda affected the decisions release since they had no idea what it would be like when they released the letter in March. However, in my Dietrich waitlist, I have heard no one getting off so far. It could be either the college got filled up already and there is no need for waitlist, or they are still sorting out but in a slower pace because of the pandemics. But it would be very surprising to see no vacancy in Dietrich without anyone getting off waitlist there.
And I guess calling the admissions right now would be a bad idea because of how much they get annoyed by us.
I guess assuming the deadline has been changed to June 1 makes sense since the FAQ page changed, but I don’t see any reason why they would do such. COVID-19 is an issue and all but I don’t understand what it has to do with extending the waitlist results deadline. Perhaps they gave extended deadlines to a large amount of students and are waiting for that to finish (I myself have an extended deadline until May 15 for another college). That is the only reason I can think of; if anyone else has an idea please do tell.
Also, if anyone who was been accepted to CMU on regular decison can tell me if they were even offered a decision deadline extension that would help.
I have the exact same deadline. The enrollment fee is 800 so I’m still waiting to pay. I mentioned in the email to CMU admissions and they told me its better for me to pay to other schools first cuz no guarantee on waitlist in Dietrich

So probably that’s why they didn’t mention the date May 8th in the update email and instead said “throughout May”.
I’m sorry I did not corrrectly write what I meant. I meant to say that because perhaps the people accepted to CMU on regular decision were given an extended deadline to make their decision, CMU is waiting on those people to give back their answers and expecting more spots to open up when the extended deadline passes.
This is completely based on the fact that multiple colleges have offered me the option of extending their decision deadline up until May 15 (at least), perhaps CMU offered the same option to it’s accepted students and as such has a lot of gray-area(not necessarily open but not necessarily closed spots) as some of the students already accepted have not finalized their decision. I have no idea if CMU even offered to extend the deadline so if someone could chime in on that would be great 
.
In the end, people on the waitlist are going to have to keep praying either until they get accepted or until June 1 rolls around. I have no idea if the people on the regular waitlist are now included in the pool, but either way I can’t say I’m happy with how little information CMU has offered.

Wow I saw it too, but the 8th is over… I question how many spots they have left to admit more students.
Well I think PWL is on going throughout May so they might have just started accepting people into Dietrich.

Daughter got off the PWL on Thursday morning. Dietrich for Information Systems. She committed to it yesterday.
whelp guess all the offers were sent out before the 8ths.
Information systems is in Dietrich and Heinz, so no one has gotten solely into Dietrich yet.
