I’m going to be bold and climb out on the limb confident it won’t break off behind me in saying that last night’s segment with Paul McCartney was James’ best ever. Up until this one, I would have said his segment with Adele was my favorite. If you haven’t seen it, the 24 minute segment is available on YouTube. After a stressful week, it was such a delight to be transported back in time for just a few minutes. What a treat to see his family’s flat preserved in the style of the '60s.
For those of us who are a certain age, is there a Beatles song that takes you back to the '60s in an instant?
I will watch this now. My prior favorite was Kelly Clarkson. James’ reaction when she hits the high note in Love So Soft was hilarious, as was the “date night” he set up for her.
Loved it. Of course I’m a die-hard Beatles fan who actually visited Liverpool (pre-kids)and have seen Paul in concert numerous times (from the Wings Over America tour to fairly recently). He is older, his voice isn’t quite what it used to be – but he still has that aura, energy, enthusiasm (and yes cuteness) about him.
This must have taken a good amount of organization/preparation – from being in Liverpool, visiting some sites, having Paul’s regular touring band on hand for the end etc. but it was worth it.
Watched it and it really was a lovely interview/ performance. Can’t wait for my parents and Inlaws to visit so they can watch it as well, I know they would love it.
My very first concert ever was when my parents took me and my siblings to see Paul McCartney and Wings at the Capital Center in 1976. I was eight y/o and remember it fondly, including my first encounter with the sweet smelling smoke from the “cigarettes” the people in front of us were smoking (my parents were not too happy with that!). My mother was a huge Beatles fan-we had all their albums. I saw the carpool karaoke video earlier today-amazing for me to be able to still remember all the lyrics and be brought back to my childhood.
