CAS Essay Question

I remember seeing Dean J post in a thread that writing about an influential film is okay, as long it’s not based on a book. The movie I want to write about is “loosely based” on a pretty obscure novel. Would this be okay?

The movie is Tim Burton’s Big Fish, by the way.

“loosely based?”
that’s real risky
its title the same as the book its based off it
unless dean j says otherwise in this forum, i wouldn’t do it

There are so many great films out there, why take a chance on running afoul of admissions’ no-nos?

That wasn’t supposed to be a hard and fast rule. It’s just unfortunate when someone writes about Les Miserables, for example, and they are referencing the musical, not the book.

Use your judgement…if you feel strongly about the movie because it was a great adaption, write about the movie.

can the piece of art be a simple sketch that’s not famous or well-known?

my essay is about something my sister drew, i was trying to be creative, but now I’m concerned that this is not acceptable!
