My brother, who is attending UVA with me, decided not to check the “Are you pre-med?” box on his information sheet. He completed it a month ago and now he wants to go pre-med. Even if he cannot change that on the info sheet, will he still be able to go pre-med?

Yes. Pre-med is not a major or a program; you just need to have taken certain courses before you graduate/apply to med school (a year of calculus, two years of chemistry including organic chem, a year of bio, a year of physics, some humanities). When your brother meets with his advisor, he should mention that he is interested in premed so that his advisor can take that into account when helping him plan his schedule. It would be a good idea for him to take chemistry, at least, in his first year.
