Case Western and USC Admission???

So here’s the situation:

Back in December(?) I received my letter of admission from Case Western Reserve University and I was quite excited. We were all screaming, happy vibes. Later that week, I went to go check on the portal and what things I had to complete, and I remember accidently clicking “yes” to my offer of admission. I panicked, as It immediately requested a 500 dollar deposit. I decided it wasn’t all that awful, so I just closed the tab. Now it just has a red ‘X’ on my screen, saying I need the 500 dollar deposit

I have NOT paid that deposit yet, and just today received my letter of admission to USC. Does my reply to CWRU with a “yes” (WITH NO DEPOSIT) prohibit me from even CONSIDERING “yes” also on my admission to USC? Am I bound to CWRU at this point?

Did you apply ED or EA to Case Western?

I applied as Early Action to Case Western

Then it shouldn’t matter. EA is not binding.

so as long as I don’t pay the money, then I am okay to commit “officially” to other schools?

I think you’re fine. EA isn’t binding, even if you had sent a deposit. I would call the admissions office tomorrow and let them know, though.

That’s good to know, I’ll ask the admissions office when I get a chance. thank you guys for your help! It means a lot to me and my family during this time of college admissions

You would have to notify Case that you want to “un accept” and then you can accept the USC if that is what you want.
Case and USC are very different…what do you like about both?

@bopper thanks for that

As for your question, well for both schools, I found their ranks to be really appealing, there is no denying it. So I applied to each for their academic prestige. For Case, I really liked the state of Ohio, when I visited and I like that it was near Cleveland. Also, I found that Case Western had a really good student to teacher ratio, and that was a big factor in the schools that i applied to.

I applied to USC for the specific major of Music Business, because that was something I REALLY wanted to get into. Also, USC has a great campus and it’s close to home, so there wasn’t anything for me to lose in applying there.
