Case Western Reserve Early Action / Early Decision for Fall 2024 Admission

My kiddo was waitlisted after an EA deferral. This was a big reach for my kiddo so we weren’t sure what to expect.

So confused, we didn’t get a decision at all. Case Western has really botched this I’m so disappointed. Anyone else in the same boat?!

Any chance that something was missing or incomplete in the application? A lot of kids at our school apply to Case and everyone we know has heard.

Log in portal and see what you have there. Probably contact admission office on Monday and see. 3/16 is the date they put on their website for RD decision.

No, that’s what’s crazy! His checklist has been complete for months since we applied last fall. This is the second botch we have had the first was the two invitations to admitted only students events.

Definitely call tomorrow. It’s kind of odd. Best of luck.

If interested in Pitt, look into their honors programs where students get more research opportunities, access to professors and first dibs registering for classes. Honors programs are offered for all colleges and majors. You will need to apply separately, but you can apply any year.

For those of you interested in staying on the waitlist, here is info about how many get chosen from the WL and how it works:

Assume you called - any update??

Yes, something really crazy happened. They switched him to ED without him ever consenting to that or filling out any forms?!! Back in December, he asked (by email) how an applicant could switch to ED if he was RD BUT without asking to actually be switched. An admissions officer told him he had to fill out a form to show that commitment and sent him the form. He thought about it, never filled out the form or asked to be switched, but it looks like they switched him on their own. Now the admissions invitations are making more sense but he is not ready 100% to commit to Case and fill out the form so we don’t know what to do. He let them know that he had simply asked how an applicant could switch to ED if they were interested without actually asking them to switch him to ED or completing the paperwork for it and that he was RD and they may have been confused (though I think it is more they are trying to corner him into a commitment). We will see how they respond (email), I am assuming it will not be favorable since he is stating he is not ready to commit to them.

What is going on in CWRU admissions this year?! It was not like this last year.

Yes, I am surprised. I actually went to Case for Law School so it is special to me and I would love it if my child wanted to commit but he is not 100% sure.

I’m choosing to see it as a glitch, trusting that they’ll make whatever changes they need to get their act together again for next year? I hope your kid is able to choose a school he feels great about soon (and that Case is one of his options).

Snowing like crazy today. Not sure where you’re from, but if it’s anything north of 50F stay there

My child withdrew his application from their portal after an EA deferral. Somehow that information didn’t make it to the admission office. Today he got an email about being on the waitlist and how they will continue to email each week to stay connected. I am not impressed, and don’t think my younger child should apply in the future.

She was accepted to Pitt Honors College.

Outstanding! Does she plan to matriculate at Pitt?

Maybe if they increase her merit offer to make it more cost-effective. I guess we should be happy they gave her anything, but $5K/year isn’t that influential in her decision.

Agreed that Pitt should give more but we will be grateful if we get any. I wish we can have your package from Pitt. My son got good merit from Case and $0 from Pitt. It makes Case cheaper than Pitt but Pitt is still his top choice…

We live in Michigan, and Case gave my son a merit package that made the cost there equal to that of UofM, our state flagship.
