Case Western Reserve Early Action / Early Decision for Fall 2025 Admission

I see the Catch 22 here, especially since Case is generally pretty generous with merit awards. I think the best option for a very high stat student who wants to be accepted by Case is to demonstrate a lot of interest with campus visits, Zoom info sessions and essays.

I thought CWRU didn’t have supplemental essays. Has that changed?

CWRU was a top choice for my S23 and will probably be a top choice for my D26
but it’s cost prohibitive to fly out all the way from the west coast unless the kid is already accepted. Fortunately CWRU does arrange info sessions at our high school, but this isn’t true for all high schools.

I have talked with admissions, and you get the same amount of merit you would get regardless of ED, EA, or RD.

I personally don’t thinks kids are “gaming the system” by applying to safeties. It’s smart and many end up at their safeties. This is why schools accept more students than there are spots and why waitlists exist. I think the real problem is that yield is used in school rankings and is therefore given more importance than it deserves.

My son was accepted with a good financial offer. The acceptance letter had a personalized postscript that commented on a particular aspect of his application, which I thought was a nice touch.

My D25 is deferred. They gave the option for ED2. I am not thrilled by this. It’s like saying, if you want to commit, I will admit you. At least that is the impression it left us. Anyways
 Good luck everyone.

Did you get an email from Case? What link did you use to check your status
I don’t see anything on my portal :frowning:

D25 is deferred. Email says, either to change to ED2 along with mid year report or RD.

Yes, my son received an email with a link to his application portal.

Thank you. Hopefully, they are releasing in batches and not that my DD forgot to click submit on the application back in Oct. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Deferred with ED2 option. Decided after recent visit that it’s no longer a top choice so withdrew app tonight. Good luck all in your journey

DD got in! Not a ton of aide so that’s a bummer but it still nice to get that acceptance

Daughter accepted! Acceptance letter seems to offer her a spot in the class of 2029 without mentioning the school of nursing, which is her intention. If they have been accepted, does that mean they got into the specific school they wanted (nursing, engineering, etc)?

accepted!
Sharing stats since they were helpful to me:
Sat 1510
Rank 5/400
3.97 unweighted gpa

Very grateful
Good luck to those still waiting

They should have released all in one go as the dean of admission sent us email about the release at 8pm EDT. It’s best to email them to check. Good luck.

I believe that students are accepted into the university as a whole, and can choose any major (with the exception of music, which requires an audition). Where any major is open to you | Features | Case Western Reserve University

But your daughter may also want to contact Admissions just to be sure that she is in their system as planning to be in the nursing program, so that she can be sure to have proper advising from the first day.

My understanding is that you get accepted to a school, not a major. So if she applied to the school of nursing then that would be her acceptance. Congrats!
