Case Western Reserve Early Action / Early Decision for Fall 2025 Admission

Deferred as well with the ED2 option. Its definitely something to consider, however that’s a tough decision to go ED without knowing merit and without having visited…

Son accepted with $28k. Also a nice note about being an Eagle Scout.

3.83/4.35, 32 ACT, Eagle, heavy music, swimmer. Not sure the cost is feasible since he wants to go to med school and can go to Miami for under $25k vs $65 as Case, but its great to have the option.

Case has a Single Door Admissions Policy
“What can you study at Case Western Reserve?
Practically anything. And with our single-door admission policy, once you’re admitted, you can explore the university’s entire catalog of academic offerings across the schools of engineering, nursing and management as well as the College of Arts and Science”

Nursing is special because they have to make sure to have clinical spots for you but if you told them nursing then you are in for nursing.

Deferred. Applied for CS. 1520 SAT (Math 800). 3.98 UW GPA. 11AP (All 5 or 4) and 4 Post AP courses. Good ECs. Was not expecting this. Bummer

Congrats to all accepted! Deferred and super bummed here as this was his top choice. Weighted 4.79, ACT 33, both my parents went there (and this was specifically asked on app), 5 APs with 5s on the first 3 tests he took, and a neuroscience summer immersion program with a stellar rec from the the head of the neuro dept at a local university.

We’re gonna research how to share more infor as it said in the letter that was welcome. Applying ED2 just doesn’t make financial sense to me not to compare multiple offers and options.

Daughter deferred. Recipient of Ohio Governor’s Merit Award, given to kids in top 5% of their class. The objective of that award is to keep kids in Ohio and Case is hands down the top school in the state, academically. Didn’t expect to be deferred. Not a rejection and she will be ok. Has offers out of state, but was hoping to stay in state.

Congrats! Accepted with almost identical stats and $31.5K merit. Showed lots of demonstrated interest.

DD applied to the PPSP program which has a decision date of Jan 30. So, application won’t be considered for EA. So, wait goes on :frowning:

Deferred. UW4.0/36 with great EC’s, leadership, volunteerism, loved by teachers, national level things I won’t name for privacy. Visited school (plane ride away.) Case suggested ED2. NOPE! How predatory and ick

Deferred, a joke of a selection process. No merit to it. UW 4.0, W4.41. 12 APs all As, tested. ACT 35, a ton of ECs and professional activity, two summer research internships with presentations. Attended all of CWRU’s virtually offered topics. Really looked forward to it. Don’t get. Merely a lottery. Devastated.

My daughter was accepted EA with a 40K per year scholarship for nursing, but she was also accepted for Penn ED tonight, so she will have to decline Case. I’d say Case was her 2nd or 3rd choice if she hadn’t gotten Penn, she loved the opportunity to do her clinicals at the Cleveland Clinic. 34 ACT and 4.0 GPA with extensive volunteering, shadowing, and got her CNA license last summer.

I feel the same. Why ED2? They are making this explicit and this is for obvious yield reason. I am having second thoughts about CWRU now. My elder D21 with a lesser stat (1430 and 3.838 UW) got in through the RD round without declaring a major (or putting down the intended major). My D25 had 1490 and 3.89 UW, good essay and recs is now deferred. She put down undeclared engineering. She will move on.

Don’t be devastated. There are other institutions that you will excel at. Just wait.

Thanks, I know it tends to work out if you keep at it. D had her sights set on it, thought she had a story and credentials, had expectations, it’s the first school to announce.

Kid lucky to be accepted with University Scholarship, 4.27UW/4.98W (they count A+s), 36 ACT, 11 APs, NMSF, ranked 1st at selective private OOS school, 4 year varsity/club athlete, robotics leadership, extensive volunteering. Very excited after a few tough deferrals…

Can someone please help us interpret this wait-list communication?
Does every wait list offer say “you will receive an offer of admission”?
Confused!
And annoyed b/c it seems like they are playing games.

TY

“If you know Case Western Reserve is your first-choice university, you can have your application considered under our binding Early Decision II admission program. Assuming there is no change in your academic performance or disciplinary history, you will receive an offer of admission. Additionally, you will be selected as a University Scholarship recipient. This award carries a value of $23,000 per year for a maximum of eight semesters.”

From what I can tell based on Reddit posts, there seems to be two types of deferrals. One like yours, and another that merely says you have the option of converting to ED2 or being considered in RD. In that second version, there doesn’t seem to be a guaranteed offer of admission or merit money.
