Our city announced the opening of our first Whole Foods this morning! My tummy is happy!!!
D3 missed her airport shuttle yesterday but we were able to get her on a later flight. Happily, she would arrive 15 minutes before D2 and her friends but then D2’s plane got in early and they were all there at the same time. I wore a pink wig to the baggage claim area and we went home and had midnight snacks. Woke up this morning with D2’s dog kissing me. Happy, full house!
I promised my best friend that if I got into a PhD program, I’d go visit him in Florida over spring break. Bought my tickets last night! Ready to get away from the cold and snow for a while.
Great friends who are there for me in good and bad.
What makes me the happiest is knowing that my son was accepted into his dream school, he’s happy, thriving, and exhausted by doing too many things that he loves.
My son’s favorite school just “found” 8k more in merit money for him per year. This could work!
A little girl at school had a spare birthday cupcake, and she brought it to me “because you are so nice”
Go to Youtube and do a search on “Whammer Jammer”… if that doesn’t do it for you, try “Laughing Baby” I swear, the sound of a laughing baby must release some brain chemicals that make us feel good.
@ abasket , I found some peaches at my somewhat local produce outlet. Looks like they might need a few days to ripen , but I was happy to find them
Right now, those big avocados from FL are in, too.
Just read about a parrot in England that is 114 years old, and supposedly was owned by Winston Churchill from the late 30’s until his death…Churchill supposedly taught the bird to curse at the Nazi’s, if the bird picked up Churchill’s style it must have been a hoot to hear it. Apparently,. these days it doesn’t talk that much, but it has a new friend (a 6 year old parrot), and they both say hello and goodbye to people coming in and out of the garden center where they live, and that kind of made my day (Hey, I am easy)
^^ There is an old parrot in the feed supply store I get my dog’s food from. He says hello when most people come in , but the owner told me he prefers blondes ! I put it to the test the other day and he was much friendlier with me than the man who was trying to get him to talk the other day . He is a funny bird
Bumped into the minivan in front of me at a stoplight this morning. His liftgate and rear bumper will have to be replaced. Just cracked my front bumper. No one was hurt, the other driver was kind and patient. The police office was professional and friendly. And kind enough to not give me a ticket. To quote him " Sometimes accidents happen. Have a good day". I’m thankful.
^^^ Glass half full. Good job.
Son is over the moon about his appointment to USAFA. He had been so stressed lately, and I have missed hearing his laugh and seeing his goofy grin. Last night he shared this very goofy (dumb) youtube video and he just belly laughed. We all did. If felt good to know that his silly self is still there, under layers of stress.
Don’t judge (we had “spagooter” for dinner. I kept asking him what in the heck he was talking about…once I viewed the video it all became clear!)

My friend is DELIGHTED to attend opening night of Flying Dutchman in our stead while we stay home and quietly baby my foot and watch two TV shows we enjoy. Win-Win!
It is 63 degrees, and magnolias are about to bloom.
The azaleas were in full bloom at the Japanese garden I visited here in Delray Beach today. It made me feel a little hopeful about spring coming to the rest of the country, even if it’s three months from now!
The daphnes are blooming and smell heavenly
Gotta get out and enjoy sitting on my porch this weekend! I strategically planted a daphne bush next to it.
