I am most fond of the 10 or 12 threads I started asking about vacuum cleaners. :-S

ETA: This is a thread about threads. What won’t we think of next.

^Indeed. How very Meta…hummm. :)

I have a lot of posts on CC, having been here for 12 years (!!), but I have rarely started a thread. I guess I gotta get with the program.

I haven’t started many threads that I can think of. Started one years ago Second Semester Blues when my son was a freshman in college. If anyone remembers, WC went AWOL from his college and posting got pretty lively! I remember it being very helpful at the time. Kid is now graduated from college for 3 years!

I kinda remember your S Abasket having a tough time when he went off to college. Now he’s graduating. How great to look back and see how much those kiddos have grown.

An old but great thread not started by me but so great was “Swallows to Capistrano”. Should be required reading.

You are right Deb, my S did have a really tough 1st year. His friends got extra big hugs at graduation from me for connecting with him when he needed some buds.

I love the Trader Joes thread and the thread about the common data sets. It has made this process a bit easier. I have a set of twins who are just finishing up their sophomore year. So we will are having double the fun! If that’s what we can call the college admissions process.

Has anyone ever started a thread about how to get through this process with multiples? It must be an agonizing process. We could sure use the help.

@Duceandaquarter - Pizzagirl has twins who are in college right now.

I don’t know which thread that was but I think it was Thumper that mentioned her kid to buy Suave shampoo, guess what I’m using on my weekend. It’s cheap and it’s do the job.

That’s funny Dr. Google. I don’t remember that! But when my son was trying to economize, that is exactly what we suggested (DH uses suave too).

I think it was the thread about allowance, how much money kids spend. IIRC.

Maybe I can buy the Suave and pour it into the expensive bottles of shampoos that the twins use? I wonder if they would notice. Isn’t it all the same anyways?

My son didn’t care! My daughter had other hair product choices. Thus one of my reasons for NOT giving discretionary spending money (see other thread). If she wanted to pay $15 for a bottle of shampoo, it was her money to spend. She learned to economize on these things over time…choices choices!

I started the thread, Stupidest Reasons Child Won’t Look at a College, or something like that, wherein I encouraged son to look at a particular college located in the heart of his intended industry and he dismissed it because of football. Now, after graduating from the best football college in the country, (Roll Tide!), he is heading up to grad school at that very school he dismissed four years ago. Thankfully, he knows nothing of that thread, and doesn’t remember at all that I had suggested the school back then. I take no credit for subconsciously planting that bee in his bonnet!

That’s a good one, Montegut.

The topic on which I’ve received and, I hope, given the most help is the various aging parent threads. I’m not alone; there is a surprisingly large core group which has been posting on this subject for a number of years, and we’re always getting new posters who suddenly find themselves in our boat. The pinned thread has become an invaluable support group.

One of my favorite threads was from several years ago, entitled “A Plug for Shelter Pets.” It was short-lived, but got passionate responses. I loved all the stories of rescued pets.

OTOH, “The Cat Lovers Thread” failed to take off, maybe reflecting the aloofness and nonchalance of the subject matter. :)

^Now if you started a cat videos thread…

@duceandaquarter- momof3sons has twins graduating from college this year. :)

I have always aspired to start a thread that accumulates a lot of responses and many, many views. Look for “The Best Cat Videos on the Internet” thread in the Parent Cafe soon!

I have started over 600 threads…yikes!

I love my pet threads and recipe threads.

I am very happy that my Bama threads get lots of views/posts, such as

I just looked at that “my threads” number. Yesterday mine was 1001. Today, it is 1004. I did NOT start ANY threads between yesterday and today…not one. I’m not sure what that number means…but it’s clearly NOT threads started.

My numbers have correlated with with the number with each new thread as of late.
