CC Threads - Which Ones Have Left Your Mark On CC????

thumper1 - is it the number of different threads you’ve participated in? Did you participate in three new threads since yesterday?

Teriwtt…I’m quite sure I participated in many more than 3 threads since yesterday!

But I did NOT start any…none!

I should have clarified… three threads that you hadn’t participated in before.

Not likely, teriwtt. It’s very odd!

But I’ll reply to some random thread and see what happens!

Ok…I just posted on a new thread and my threads total did not change.

Thumper, if you click on the “Threads” link on the far left, it will show you which threads you have started. I didn’t go through to count whether the number was correct (even I have better things to do) but on the first page it will show you the most recent threads you started.

I did that VH…and I had 1001, and started no new threads after that. Suddenly it was 1004. Very odd.

Honestly, I on,y noticed the number because it was suddenly over 1000. last week, it was in the 900s. I have NOT started that many new threads since last week! I really haven’t!

Ok…I’m now up to 1005 threads. I guess these are threads I’ve responded to since I know I haven’t started any threads today!

Weird. I did t think I had started 1000 plus threads!

But then in ten years or so, I think I’ve probably responded to more than 1000 threads.

It’s an odd notation…that “threads” number. Wonder what it really means?

I’ve started very few threads–only 31 in 9 years on CC–just looked over them. One of my favorite ones was “Something nice about your spouse.” (At that time there was also a griping “pet peeve” thread, so I thought it would be nice to hear the positive side. . .there were some really sweet stories on that thread.) One funny more recent thread was “Annoying songs for my son to wake up to.” We actually did this for about a month, and used a lot of the songs suggested. “Student to be questioned by police” got the most responses. (Embarrassing, but happy ending.) There are a few that could use an update–“Would you lend $ to a friend?” (We shouldn’t have. We gave him $700. He paid us back $50. . .Sort of knew that would happen.) And “Another wedding etiquette gripe” thread (Update–the couple just had a baby. Yes, we sent a gift.) I can’t say I’ve left a mark on CC–I didn’t recall more than a couple of my own threads, and doubt anyone else would remember them, either!

Atomom, I don’t think you need to start a thread to add meaning and insights to CC. What I like is when I “know” the name, can recall who the poster’s children are, their majors, and where they are/went to UG.

What has touched me is when I’ve reached out for help and received it. For example, when son was applying to grad school, he got caught in 3 snowstorms. He was trying to get from Princeton to S.F. for back-to-back interviews. A CCer suggested he re-route. So, son flew south to NC, then west. Another weekend he was caught in Phila. People suggested he find hotel and catch a train. Curmudgeon’s dtr was on the same path but got to Philly earlier and made it out.

Some of us are conversation starters, some are conversation adders - it’s all good!!!
