Chance a mediocre student

Hello everyone!
I’m a Norwegian male.
I’m most attracted to New York, as my parents have many friends there and my sister is going to move there sometime in the future.
My reasons for applying to Fordham University:
I like the campus (from what I’ve seen on photos), my family knows alumni and current students, they offer the fields of study I wanna pursue (business among them).

Recommendations:
My counselor gave me a great recommendation, stating I was friendly, outgoing and had a great sense of humor. She also ranked me within the top 10% of my class. On the personality part of the commonapp she gave me “Excellent” in all fields.

The other recommendation was from my English teacher. He gave me “Well above average” on everything and stated that my written assignments were impressing.

Essay:
Hard to say, I’m pretty satisfied.

Test Scores:
TOEFL: 653/677 pbt

Grades:
Religion & ethics: A
History: A
Gym: A
English: A
Mathematics: B
Norwegian 1: A
Norwegian 2: A
Norwegian 3: A
Alternative gym/soccer: A
Chemistry: C

I will not be applying for any FA.
P.S Fordham only requires one test to be submitted from int.apps.

Generally when a college says something is “recommended”, it means that you really want to supply it unless you have a good reason not to…

That being said, Norway is not a particularly well-represented country and that together with your class rank and positive recommendations will probably be enough for you to gain admission.

Thanks for replying.

The reason I don’t want to submit my SAT scores is because they’re terrible. Unfortunately I didn’t have the time to retake it. So I’m pretty much stuck with my one and only score so far.

I do realize that I might not have the scores/grades etc to be admitted to a university such as U of C. But do you think there is a slim chance?

University of Chicago?
University of Connecticut?
University of Colorado?
University of California?

Sorry for being unclear earlier on. I was thinking of the University of Chicago.

I think chances there are very slim. Especially for intl.students
But since you don’t want any aid, and you have apretty decent biography
Whou knows you may have a chance
I’d suggest you to try!!

Ok, sounds good. I guess it’s the same story with Emory/Vanderbilt?
It really bugs me that I cant retake the ACT/SAT. Anyway, thanks for all the helpful comments :)

why can’t u retake the SAT? even though most unis say they dont accept jan scores, they actually do accept them

There is only 4 or 5 test locations in Norway, meaning I would have to take a plane for aprox 1hour , stay at a hotel for 2 days etc. Added up, taking the SAT would cost me in excess of 1000$. Hopefully they look beyond the test-scores :>

Are you afraid of $1000 and you won’t apply for fin aid???

I wouldn’t be afraid of spending another $1000 if I had the time, and felt I would do considerably better. Officially most colleges state they don’t accept scores from January anyway.
