Hi people!

I’m a senior this year and would appreciate a chance!
Stanford
NYU
BC
North Eastern
USC(both parents got their MBA here.)
Loyola Marymount(Mom went for undergrad)
Claremont McKenna College
Emory University
Fordham University
Tulane University

GPA-4.1 weighted
Unweighted-3.76(Around 3.94 without Freshman year)

Act- 31
English 28
Math 29
Reading 33
Science 32
Potential Majors- Psychology

Disabilities- OCD, Tourette’s, Anxiety, depression and a Learning Difference
(These are a big part of my essays and my extra curriculars as well)

History of bullying in my family around my TS and also at school as well. Will talk about my optimism and persistence to advocate for myself in order to create opportunities for myself despite the situation.

Then how I used my own experience to help others, backed up by my EC’s…

EC’s-
Drama(Play)
Stem Club
Golf(Captain)
Cross Country
Active in parish community

Eye to Eye- A national affiliation, and at our school chapter we go to a middle school and help mentor kids with learning disabilities and we teach them how they can manage it, and we are there for them as a friend and companion.(one time a week for almost 2 hours)

Public Speaking- I have a huge passion for speaking about TS awareness in many venues.

Because of my rough history with acceptance, public speaking started out as an outlet for me to express myself and to also learn how to communicate my needs regarding my TS to others. Speaking helped me open up my true self to others, and is something i take seriously…

Anyways, I’ve spoken to over 400 kids at my own highschool in multiple panels and I spoke about TS to spread awareness but with a bigger message of encouraging them to find help for themselves or their friends if they are ever struggling, especially with mental health.

Spoken to many middle schools about TS with the main motive of spreading awareness to reduce the stigma in those schools and hopefully reduce bullying with the increased awareness…

Trip to D.C. With the TAA(Tourette Association of America)- A leadership conference training speakers to advocate for themselves and others with TS. We spent a few days of training and I presented to the aides of the rep of my region and the senators of CA to ask for more money, research and education of teachers regarding TS.

TEDX Talk on TS- Spoke about how there is always a flip side to adversity, and used my personal story to hopefully inspire others to not be afraid to tackle their own challenges,

Over the Summer-

Will go on a 2 week immersion trip to Tacoma, and we will serve a disability community for adults and will do farm work

This summer i went to a 1 week TS camp in Georgia, and we will also be trained to lead kids and overall leadership skills so we can return as counselors to the camp the following year.

2 week Biotechnology program at Northwestern( I’ve been interested in science, but have started to shift away from it, but decided to do it anyways since I already registered)

So, would be wonderful if you guys could chance me, and I will chance back if you leave a link!

Also George Washington University, forgot to add sorry

I think you have a good shot at every school except Stanford and Emory. If you write strong essays about your struggles emory could be a possibility. If you want to go there badly then maybe apply ed and you would have a better chance.

Thank you for your input!! Greatly appreciated

Stanford - high/reach
NYU - high match
BC - high match/match
USC - high match
Loyola Marymount - low match/safety
Claremont McKenna College - high/reach

Stanford- Reach
NYU- Match
BC- High Match
USC- Match
Loyola Marymount- Definetly Safety w/ selected major
Claremont- Low Reach/ High match
Fordham-Match
Tulane- Safety/ low match
Northeastern- Safety
You sound like an incredible person. I reccomend spending lots of time on your essay and having many reviews some of it and I think you will then have a better chance at your selected colleges. Could you chance me back please?http://■■■■■■■.com/Chancemeplease

Stanford- Reach-still definitely a possibility as long as you make a compelling essay.
NYU- High match/match
BC- High match
Northeastern-Match/Safety
USC-Match
Loyola-Match/Saftey
Fordham-High match

Your test scores and GPA both are admirable, and your EC’s and passion for spreading awareness of TS is surely something that many universities will see as a remarkable quality in your application.

Thank you all for the insight.

Yes, essays are definitely my focus right now. I personally believe I have a solid essay, but we’ll see.

Bump

Still looking for some insight, thanks!

I agree with the chances that people have made above, but wow, with a compelling essay about your experiences and hardships, I honestly think that you stand a chance at Stanford, excluding your stats.
Chance back? Thanks.

Wow, okay, I think you have a pretty high chance of getting into most of the schools there (I’m only a bit unsure about Stanford, but that’s primarily due to me not knowing just how competitive it is/ the standards ><) I think if you write an eye-catching essay (tip from an english teacher: getting someone’s attention gets you 8/10th of the way there in convincing them) and develop it well-enough, then I think there’s a reasonable expectation in being accepted. Also be sure to let your passion really show through vivid and strong verbs. Good luck!

Every school you listed is a match/safety! With the exception of Stanford and Claremont McKenna College of course, since they’re both reaches for everyone. However, I think you have a really good chance at Stanford. I heard somewhere that something Stanford looks for in a student is if they’ll be famous in the future. You seriously sound like that type of person. Anyways, don’t worry about it. Just make sure your essay is strong and coming from the bottom of your heart, as corny as that sounds. Good luck, I know you’re going places!

Oh, and BTW, Stanford doesn’t look at freshman grades so don’t worry about your GPA either.

I think you have a good shot at all. However, Stanford might be a reach

Thank you all of you guys. Yea I’ll keep that all in mind, hopefully my essays are compelling!

I think you have an incredibly unique story- just upon first glance I can tell you a person of character. Although some of your objective stats may be a little bit low for a college like Stanford, I think you are an applicant whose “life story” weaves itself through your ECs and as long as you continue that through your essays, then you have just as much of a chance as anyone applying to Stanford.

Stanford
NYU-high match
BC- match
North Eastern- match
USC(both parents got their MBA here.)- match
