we have the exact same stats, i got rejected from ucsd and ucla too, but i would take davis or sb over sd.

with that being said i still think we have like a 60-65% shot…im freaking out

Your stats are better than mine.
SAT:1710
GPA:3.88
ELC

I got accepted to UCSD, UCD,UCI, and rejected from UCLA. Still waiting for UCB and UCSB.

competition is so rough this year :</p>

Edit: Nicole, thats crazy…can’t help but feel jealous :</p>

And i was eligible for ELC but because of an administrative error (the counseling office ruins my life :frowning: ) i did not receive it despite being 7th in class out of 322.

Im thinking of appealing. I dont know how much weight an ELC number carries.

oh and i forgot to mention i was in AcaDec for 2 years and my yeam (though i was not competing team) won county for the last 11 years in a row. I even got 3rd in essay overall this year.

I seriously have no clue what UC’s are looking for anymore. Maybe if we had been out-of-state applicants willing to pay more we both would have gotten in.

I had 4.05 UC GPA, 1900 SAT, 4.17 Weighted GPA and I got rejected by UCLA, UCSD and now waiting for UCI, UCSB, UCD. I am just so sad right now with two rejection. It looks like major(Mechanical Engineering) that I picked here just killed me. I should have picked easy major.:(

sorry to sound callous, but why come to davis (if admitted) if you really don’t want to be at davis??? why not do the community college thing and TAG? davis has plenty of kids who really want to be there who apply… people who don’t consider themselves first and foremost “ucsd/ucla rejects”.

@calimami: I think it’s more of the fact that UCSD and UCLA rejected us first and totally blew our confidence to smithereens. At least for me that’s the case. UCD is actually one of my top choices, and knowing that other UC’s have rejected me has made me pretty depressed.

@calimami

davis has been my top choice since i saw the campus as a freshman. id take it over sd any day. ucsd seems so boring.

@Calimami: I don’t have any problem with rankings it is just UCSD & UCLA is very close to home and If I don’t get in anywhere than I would love to go to UC Davis but being far away will not be convenient for me. So, it is location that I am looking at.

this thread is totally for me, lol.

@calimama, exactly what @aspeterson and @nitap said.

so maybe I didn’t really expect to get into UCLA. but I thought I had somewhat of a chance with UCSD. maybe I only thought so because everybody kept building it up for me, idk, but whatever it was, it totally killed me, getting rejected.

@calimami Don’t take the thread title the wrong way…my confidence just got shattered by being rejected by UCLA and UCSD (my dream college)…I like UCD and it actually is my third choice and its near my house.

Berkeley is pretty dang hard to get into. Below are some stats for both Berkeley and Davis that shows the competitiveness of those trying to get into Berkeley.

Some stats for Freshmen accepted to UC Berkeley:

Rejected: UCSD, UCLA
Accepted: UCI (Honors Program)
Still waiting on: UCD, UCB, USC, NYU

@VentureMan: 100% ranked 10% at UC Davis? O.o

I think you mean that kids with ELC get a guaranteed UC, including Davis. Otherwise kids not in the top 10% would have no chance.

yea, it isn’t 100% were in the top 10%, a majority might be, but not all

@aspeterson No, I don’t think it’s ELC they are referring to… you have to be ranked in the top 4% of your class for ELC… top 10% to be elegable to apply. I will say that my data is for the 2009 freshman class… but the new data is not much different. Here is the current rankings… you be the judge. The data if from College Board, so I’m sure it’s accurate:

UC Davis: [Academic Tracker - Meet College Admission Requirements - High School Class Selection](<a href=“College Search - BigFuture | College Board”>College Search - BigFuture | College Board)

UC Berkeley: [Academic Tracker - Meet College Admission Requirements - High School Class Selection](<a href=“College Search - BigFuture | College Board”>College Search - BigFuture | College Board)

yea but still :confused: that wouldn’t explain why some people get in with 3.1 GPA’s and stuff (i know someone who did) obviously they aren’t in the top 10% of their class…

re. responses to my earlier comment: i understand your comments better now. all the best to you during this process!
