deferred from columbia ed, shooting for uva, nyu, and reaches- georgetown, stanford, and penn
-is there anything i can do to be more compelling?

Have you tried the ACT? Is there still time?

the next ones in feb., scores cant be sent past the app deadline, can they?

your SATs are SOOOOOOOOOOO low. haha

at least you’re not like the val in my school -> 1780

honestly though, your sats aren’t that low and you have really good SAT II’s.

haha stephen…i dont think they are low, but 90% of ppl on these boards do…

but thanks…

This is an increasing trend I’ve been seeing in schools, including mine.

The valedictorian somehow has miraculous scores and is popular amongst the upper tier of the school However, their SAT scores do not, by any chance, reflect their GPAs.

The SAT 2s are easy to land 800s, but seriously… there’s something fishy. I think that most of these valedictorians just cheat their way to a higher score anyways… it shows on standardized tests.

well baru…i can assure you that i’ve never cheated…i’ve worked my ass off to get these grades, but the sat is just something i cant do well on

sena5 that is a good question. Anyone cause I wrote to Georgetown, SIUE, and American and asked under circumstances(my brother died and his funeral was on the ACT day) if I could send after Feb. no reply yet so tommorrow I’ll be calling them.

You have a 1400/1600 which is not low at all. Most people do not score a 1400/1600. I think you are almost definitely into NYU and UVA (Since you are in-state). Have you looked at William and Mary cause you would probably get in there too.

You have a fair shot getting into Columbia from the deferral pool and I think you have a fair chance at Georgetown. Stanford and Penn are going to be difficult but you can maybe do it!

sorry about your loss tisaak…i wish they would for you, i dont really have an excuse, just really busy…

thanks ummmm you could try calling and asking They might let you I was told that the actual decision is not until like mid-march.

There is a very simple way for all to see how a school will view their scores. Look at the common data set. If any stat is not at last year’s class’s median, and you don’t have a hook, admission becomes an uphill battle. When you look at the CDS keep in mind that at top colleges, 40% of every class has a hook–recruited athlete, legacy, URM. That means that the majority below median are hooked applicants.

persians are a URM right?

i think a 2050 SAT is top 94% in the nation…that’s pretty damn good

i don’t think so, to be honest.

you’re sat score is great. the kids tied for #1 at my school have scores in the 1700-1900 range.

thanks claire

bump…

the ACT for Georgetown is too late in Feb. but I was told to contact my admission counselor and let her know what happened and they might allow me to take Feb and it count.

Yo, brah.
You have a 1400/2100.
That’s not too bad.
Most colleges superscore these days.

The valedictorian of my school last year did worse than you on the SATs and she got into Princeton.
Good luck with everything.
You’ll get Georgetown, NYU, and UVA.
