Do I have ANY chance at getting into UVA?

It looks like you have been on an upward trend for your GPA-Great job over the last several years on doing your best. My suggestion to you is to explain your academic ‘issues’ regarding freshman year and how you have have progressed over your high school career. You may do this in the box at the end of the Common Application that allows you to put in any other information you would like to share with admissions. Your testing scores look great, as does your involvement with your volunteering at your local hospital. Please be sure to write essays that give the admissions committee a chance to know you as an individual. In all honesty, I do not believe in ‘chance me’ scenarios. I feel that a person is so much more than several lines of a resume, so to speak. Again, awesome job on your marked improvement in your grades, well done! My best to you as you work through the college admission process.

Weak students don’t get into Governor’s School (especially MS&T).

Go for it!

They’re ususally so fickle with applications that I don’t even know what to think…

I’ve known of people with 4.1 W GPA’s & In-state being rejected.

Unfortunately, I submitted my application early and didn’t do the “explanation” part, but I hopefully they will take my upward trend into account.

And I still don’t really know how I got into MST. I go to a pretty large school in Herndon, VA, and Gov School is pretty competitive here, so I was really surprised but it ended up being one of the best experiences of my life!

Aerodynamic you may send in an email to UVa with this explanation if you want. Just include your application number so they can scan it into your file as it is read.
