Chance Again for a NERVOUS 2015

~ I had one of these threads before but I don’t remember where it is. I’m kind of getting a little scared to apply to this school though. Although my grades are good, I believe my test scores are not. And what makes it worse is that I’m from Northern Virginia. Why is it that Northern Virginians have a harder time to get into UVA though? Other schools I’m applying to are WUTSL (possibly), Emory (possibly), Duke, W&M, and George Mason University is my safety. I would REALLY like to go to UVA though because it is A LOT financially better than some of those other schools. I mean Mason is cheap but I do NOT want to go there! Unless if I get rejected from all of the other ones (god forbid!!!) But please chance me again…my stats are up to date but I REALLY need to retake the tests. I’m just nervous for admissions…wish UVA had ED or something…

You are a strong candidate - I truly believe that UVA cares more about the whole app than just scores and your ACT is not shabby and the rest is impressive! Go for it :)

A 29 on the ACT is just fine, really, particularly given your other accomplishments. U-Va does like to see SAT IIs, though, so you should take a couple and see how you do.

definitely retake the ACT. shoot for a 32 or higher but a 30 should suffice.
It wasn’t that bad this year regarding UVA’s admission of those from northern virginia. I’d say the majority of people who applied with over a 4.0 were admitted (there were 70 of us above 4.0). best of luck.
