Do you know where you fall rank-wise? Also, if the “VA Gov School MST” means TJHSST then you probably have a decent chance regardless, I think Dean J said they accepted 100+ applicants.

TJHSST isn’t a math magnet (I have been set Quite Straight upon that score by someone who goes there.). Virginia’s math magnet is somewhere out in the mountains of West-Virginia-land.

Aha, Wiki. He probably means:
Piedmont Governor’s School for Mathematics, Science, and Technology
Southwest Virginia Governor’s School for Science, Mathematics, and Technology
OR
One of a bunch of summer programs that are also called governor’s schools.

Just write good essays and get good recs, and you should probably be okay…

There are a multitude of VA Gov schools all over the state. What region are you: Central VA, Tidewater, Piedmont, NoVA? If you’re anything but NoVA you’ve pretty much got it made, particularly Tidewater if they treated the applicant pool similarly to what they had done this year.

Nevertheless, I would be careful with all of the “Prez” extracurriculars you put on your applications. Colleges nowadays say they’re all looking for concentration and devotion in one particular area, not necessarily president of everything.

That being said, I hope you’re looking at VA Tech; your numbers and interests fit perfectly.

Pretty sure he means summer res gov school
