Chance for daughter- structural engineering

If this isn’t the spot please redirect me.

My daughter‘s dream school is Cal Poly structural/architectural engineering.

I’m not college educated and find all the numbers and understanding overwhelming. My son’s dream school was also Cal Poly and he was rejected for engineering but accepted at Davis, UCSD, and ultimately ended up at Smittcamp at Fresno State.

My daughter has a 3.95 unweighted and her college gpa is 4.4 She has taken most of the AP classes offered at her smaller high school - 4 down, and 4 her senior year currently. She has 3 DE classes done. She is captain of her dance team, vice president of CSF, and has been competing on a dance team all her school years.

I’m just not sure it’s enough. 3.95 gpa is from a community college online history class she got a B in that I encouraged her to transfer over to high school transcript and now I’m not sure that was a good idea. All As other than that. 4’s and 5’s on AP exams.

Weighted GPA 4.29

College Weighted GPA 4.5

simple unweighted 3.95

All this to say, I want to know if it’s a low chance so I can start pushing others schools in hopes that she won’t be so crushed.

SLO calculates their GPA using 9-11th CSU A-G course grades and will weight CSU/UC approved Honors, AP, IB and DE/CC classes taken in 10-11th grades with up to 8 semesters.

You can use the CSU GPA calculator and just include 9-11th grades.

Their 2024 Freshman profile GPA admit range (25th-75th percentile) for the College of Architecture was 3.96-4.25.

Target projections for Architectural engineering shows 89 spots with 537 applicants. The College of Architecture had a 43% yield so a projected admit rate for that major is estimated at around 38%.

SLO uses Multi-criteria admission factors (MCA) so difficult to determine her exact chances but based on your daughter’s profile, SLO looks promising for Architectural Engineering.

Good luck to her.
