That sounds promising! I would double check that using their official NPC, though, which is available here:
Assuming that checks out, I also agree that before actually applying in your cycle, you will want to update that NPC result. But at least this is looking like a strong possibility for putting on your list.
Please don’t use my intuition or college raptor. Only a colleges official net price calculator. If you used college raptor, you need to do them all again.
I believe you can save your info with the college board though to save time vs having to load.
But you cannot trust anything from college raptor or other third parties. Sorry.
Seconding the comment - do not use College Raptor! I know it’s a pain -but go to each individual school and run their NPCs. Those are the ONLY accurate ones
There are colleges who use College Raptor as their official NPC. It is possible that Brandeis used to use College Raptor, but Brandeis’ NPC page indicates that this is not the case now.
Can you name the colleges? I haven’t come across a college without their own NPC - but yes, anything is possible. But if a school has one, use it. THey are onerous but I believe you can store your data with the College Board for quicker times.
Lots of colleges use outside providers’ NPC platforms. For example Brandeis uses The College Board’s NPC platform (of course, with its own parameters put in). I have seen colleges that linked to College Raptor in a similar way (College Raptor markets itself as an NPC platform: https://www.■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■/enrollment-services/net-price-calculators/ ).
The more generalized recommendation is that when web searching for “[college name] net price calculator”, follow a link to the college’s web site to find a link to the college’s current NPC. Web search results may point to the college’s NPC on some other platform that the college used in the past, but not currently. It is possible that Brandeis used to use the College Raptor NPC platform, but no longer does (since its NPC page currently points to The College Board).
They do not all use The College Board’s NPC, although The College Board’s NPC is very common, at least among colleges using the CSS Profile (which is from The College Board). But there are other providers like Meadow, Clear Cost Calculator, etc.. Some colleges do not use external NPC platforms (e.g. Harvard, Princeton, Stanford, University of Southern California, and the UCs).
Since colleges may switch NPC platforms, start with the college’s financial aid web pages to find a link to the college’s current NPC. (Even then, you may have to be careful; I remember encountering seeing one college which had left an outdated financial aid web page pointing to its old NPC up (and findable by web searches), while its current financial aid web page pointed to its then current NPC.)
This is absolutely the right advice, and this anecdote is an illustration of a general point, namely that you should really start from the top with their main financial aid page, and at least generally review what they have to say about need, merit, and so on, and then (hopefully) get to their official NPC.
