I think we were just pointing out the ambiguity in phrases like, “I want finance.”
One kid saying that could mean they definitely want the option to do an undergrad Finance major.
Another kid could mean just that they are interested in a possible career in finance.
Obviously the thing to do, then, is ask individual kids what they are really thinking. And then take it from there.
