I’m pretty sure Rutty isn’t a thing, regardless of age.
Alright, sorry for using Rutty guys
If you guys have any other suggestions for colleges that might give good aid with my stats feel free to share. Turns out my budget is 0!!!
I already have a few thanks tsbna and some others I saw in the thread (Lafayette, Alabama, troy, Case Western)
Does the NPC show 0? Or are your parents telling you 0?
Just as an fyi OP doesn’t qualify for low income assistance at Rutgers.
I suggested community college since he plans to live home but that doesn’t appear acceptable.
For Rutgers, its saying 33k per year. My SAI index is 24852. I’m going to do a list, but I have to convince my parents to give me their tax forms…
I changed my mind, I honestly don’t care now, my parents want me to stay home, but if I have to move, so be it.
What do the NPCs say for schools that meet need?
When you say your budget is 0, what does that mean? Will your parents contribute anything?
The problem is they don’t have a plan. My dad said he could contribute a bonus (like maybe 6k a year), but its not guranteed that he’ll get it, or give it to me. We’re a family of 6, so I’m expecting no contributions (other than signing loans). They’re in the mood of “hope and pray”
What do the NPCs say for schools that meet need?
Need tax forms, which my parents aren’t providing
You will need their information in order to apply for FA at these schools. I also don’t see a way for you to attend Rutgers.
Are there any schools where you would get full tuition (merit) and can commute from home?
Here is the Rutty (I just had too - sorry) - Rutgers low income table. OP said not him.
I dont think so, Im in the middle of NJ. Only school I think would be Princeton (45 minute drive)
That has got to include housing. The Rutgers website says that the full-pay in-state cost for a commuter is $24,650/year.
Nonetheless, it appears that this is $24,650 more than you have, which is a significant problem.
Do you qualify for NJ Stars, which would make your first two years free at any NJ community college? I believe the top 15% qualify; does your class rank clear that threshold? If so, this seems like your best bet. If you can knock your first two years out of the park at CC, you could have a shot at generous full-need-met schools as a junior transfer.
Your parents may not like the idea of community college, but blocking that path when they can’t fund a path they like better is frankly irrational.
Nope this is without housing, I’ll do it again and show you guys
I forgot about NJ Stars. Any chance you qualify?
OP these are all the meets need schools. But most are need aware. So with 6 maybe they bring your cost down but if it’s too low, they may say no just for that. Most require css. My kids were not involved. Maybe your folks will do without you - they may not want you to know their finances.
In this case though - if you want to stay near home, I don’t , unfortunately, see an option outside of CC.
Maybe others will. Also Rutgers tuition appears to be $19k. You won’t spend $33k living at home. Outside of tuition and fees, the rest are estimates.
I’m not seeing how your costs could be that high. This is what the Rutgers website shows:
Regardless, with no parent contribution, it’s too much.
No, I would have been notified
I’m more like top 20% i think
You likely won’t spend near that much on transport or personal expenses, as an example.
