Chance me and Match as a student from NJ [3.7 UW, 1420 SAT, biology or neuroscience]

When you say you got into Newark, does that mean you didn’t get accepted to the main campus? Or are you waiting to hear?

Did Binghamton give you any money?

I don’t think I did anything wrong.

My parent’s salary actually was 165k on their 2024 form

The problem might be the house which is valued on zillow for 900k (prices just shot up). They have around 300k left on that.

Other than that nothing substantial.

Its unlikely to be affordable - did you apply to the SUNYs suggested way upthread (SUNY Buffalo, Plattsburgh.. I think???)

Rutgers is likely (Honors unlikely)
TCNJ Honors is by invitation only (they typically want top 10% rank/1400 SAT so ?? For you).
Rowan requires an application AFTER you’re been admitted to the college itself and before 1/31.

You should enter the price your parents paid for it, not the Zillow estimate?

  1. No
  2. Rowan said that they haven’t recieved materials from my counselor yet (which screwed my bsmd). When I asked my counselor a week ago she apologized and still didn’t do anything lol.
  3. TCNJ (I’m not top 10% rank so probably not if we’re being honest).

It specifically asked for the zillow estimate. They’re saying “if you could sell it now how much could you get”

They announce in December at the earliest, but more likely in January.

Never heard of it. But luckily for OP, he’s got a great, affordable option in Rutgers.

3/TCNJ: they’ll also look at how academically competitive your school is.

its not looking good then im only top 20%

Honestly I think this might be it for college apps. This is my list so far

Rutgers (Finished → Accepted to Newark not NB yet)
TCNJ (Still have to finish bsmd)
Fairleigh Dickinson University (Still have to finish bsdo)
SUNY Stony Brook (Done)
SUNY Bringhamton (Finished → Accepted)
Rowan University. (Waiting on counselor)
Stevens Institute of Technology (Done)
SUNY Sophie Davis (Still have to finish bsmd)

MCC (maybe, heavily leaning to this now)

  1. Might go hear for 2 then transfer to Rutgers or a T20.
  2. Or I might just go to Rutgers for four years.

I think this might be it for me.
Thank you guys for all the advice so far everyone.

It’s my understanding that TCNJ honors can only be applied to after at least one semester at TCNJ or if you have a semester worth of college credits (not AP). Admissions to the Honors & Scholars Program – Honors and Scholars Program

Interestingly its different if I did it correct (I’m figuring out their tax forms myself)

its 25k per year.

Still higher than rutgers

If this student is calculating the equity, they enter the current value of the home, and then enter any outstanding loans on the house. That is what determines the equity in the home.

The price they paid for the house could be FAR less than the current value. The current value is what matters.

@kelsmom am I correct?

Sorry, you’re right - I was going by an older system (things have been changed a lot - I did check but google listed the system I knew and I didn’t realize it had been discontinued and replaced).

So, basically it’s
current resale value - amount still owed?

Yes…current value minus outstanding loans equals the equity in a home.

That’s a huge discrepancy between 25 and 54k.
The link I provided is Lafayette’s NPC (using their formula based on CSS).
