Wow - you really crushed it - great that you stood with it as you did. I know you were hoping for Ga Tech. Many on here say they love valedictorians so that probably helped you - so happy it came through for you.

Honestly, you’re bright and ambitious and I’m guessing hard working and you’ll do well in life regardless of what you choose.

I hope you are able to visit some of the others and afford what ultimately becomes your top choice.

But I’m guessing you’ll have great success no matter where you end up.

Congrats to you - you really did extremely well in what seems to be a tough year!!

Great for you and your persistence.

Congratulations on your great results!

As an aside (doesn’t matter to you, congrats on your acceptance) there may be some confusion by others about Vals. GT instituted a policy several years back that it automatically accepts INSTATE Vals and sals that meet certain requirements Georgia Tech Scholars Program | Undergraduate Admission To my knowledge they do not have any “preference” in the admissions process for OOS Vals or sals.

Let us know what you decide!

Wow congratulations!! As you know, I’m rooting for GT  But those are some fabulous choices - can’t wait to hear where you end up!

UMich offered me the Engineering Scholarship of Honor (20k/yr) making it a lot cheaper than other places like GT

Congrats to you. There’s need aid in there as well then - correct because full pay minus $20K would be more than G Tech - and don’t forget the final two years at U Mich have are at a premium, right now at $4,070 more.

$76,294 first two yeas today, $80,364 last two years.

Note those figures include $400 for transport and $2236 for miscellaneous personnel.

So glad things are working out for you - the longer you wait, the better things are getting!!!

Congratulations! You have a lot of great options.

I don’t see CMU on your results list. What happened? (Forgive me if I missed this in the nearly 1,000 posts.)

Some thoughts about a couple schools where you were accepted…

Purdue admits students into “general engineering”, then they request their major after freshman year. There are not enough seats in popular majors like MechE and AeronauticalE, so students are placed based on their freshman GPA. They used to have a policy where students who earned a given GPA (I think 3.2) were guaranteed their desired major, but they were not honoring this policy immediately after covid because they went sideways on their yield rates. Something to confirm before making a final decision. You may also want to check if other schools on your list have a similar policy.

We know a mid-career UofM engineering grad, and she will not hire UofM engineers because the program focuses too much on theory and not practical application. Instead, she recruits from Purdue. I do not know if this applies to robotics; does that major reside in the engineering or computer science program?

Just to clarify for others reading this thread -

CS at Purdue (the OP’s original major in the first post) is direct admit and is in the college of science.

And integrated business and engineering, is in the Daniels school of business, and is also direct admit.

Students admitted to the college of engineering are admitted to first year engineering, declare their intended major at the start of 2nd semester, and transition to their major at the end of freshman year. The 3.2 engineering index (GPA which just STEM courses) guarantees first choice of major with the exception of BME. (The College of Engineering confirmed this with me this cycle as misinformation was being posted in the Purdue thread.)

I committed to the University of Michigan for robotics. The scholarship was too good to pass up on.

After doing more research on CMU it just did not end up being a good fit for me so I decided not to apply there.

That is very interesting. I have never heard of that. Thank you for that information. Robotics at UMich lies within engineering

Once again, thank you everyone for guiding me through this entire process. I would not have been able to do any of this without y’all’s help.

Wow this is very impressive! Congratulations

And just like that I have gotten the 1000th comment. I can die peacefully
